I don't know where you live, but I'd just go to the nearest national park, they are all very magnificent. Ignore the Portland suggestion, it is hideously ugly.

Peak District, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Lakes, North Wales, Gower Coast, Dartmoor, Exmoor.............masses of beautiful places to go if you like the great outdoors.............not sure about camping though!

Cornwall will be lovely that time of year but it may be cheaper to buy your camping equipment because you will like it so much you will want to go again and again.
