With screen personality ministers and TV churches it's easy to feel the hype of obedient glory to an elevated spiritual leader like Pastor Melissa Scott, Gene Scott's widow in California.

Never follow anyone who preaches the word of God just because their personality or charm appeals to you. This is why many are deceived into easily falling for scripture twisting and sugar coated teachings. People are drawn to what excites their senses, or matches their temperment or personality.

If someone is reserved and legalistic, they search for organizations and religions with a similar teaching style. Others may choose a church because the worship music or Pastor makes them FEEL enthusiastic and upbeat. Then there are those who love theatrics, so they choose a church based on how many speak in tongues, and how often the Pastor heals members on stage each Sunday. This is not how we choose Christian fellowship or a Pastor.

I'm always aware and vigilant when it comes to God's Word. However, when I find myself immediately comfortable with a Pastor or what someone says concerning the Lord, I become even more vigilant and prepared to discern through God's eyes, and not my own. No human is to be placed on a pedestal. I never become so comfortable with any human, that I would have difficulty correcting error or leaving due to false teaching.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

A Pastor is to convey God's Word accurately, and if that Pastor or Church just happens to match your personality, great. However, if a pastor's preaching style is a bit boring, and the Church has hymms instead of contemporary music, and there are a few hundred members, instead of thousands, if it is a Bible based Church, and in agreement with God's Word, be thankful you've avoided sugar coated teaching.

To answer your questiion: always, always, follow Jesus...God's Word...and never follow a personality. A true Pastor accurately conveys God Word. So if you happen to like the preaching style of the Pastor, thank God for blessing that Pastor with the Gift of Preaching. Blessings, Miji

You havent mentioned any of the claims of the Christian faith... perhaps the personalities are too much in the way,,, if all you see is them

I would avoid the word faith movement in general, there are better Bible teaching pastors and you will get more out of it If they are word faith I would frankly recommend you avoid it.

I looked at their web site a little and it is too personality oriented for my taste, I read one of Melissa's sermons and I am not sure I would be comfortable with her exigesis. She does flashy things like reading the verses in french and spanish... but... flash is not substance

definitely follow God not a personality, but there are good pastors out there You might go to www.equip.org and see if there is information on her ministry

I put my life in Jesus' hands and trust Him completely. Sometimes it's easy to take up a following with a certain evangelist but we need to be careful not to put anyone above the Almighty Father.

You should follow your heart. You said it yourself...the ones on TV are "screen personality ministers." Like everyone else on TV, they are looking to shock you and keep your eyes glued on the TV. But what are you really learning. Don't get me wrong...I enjoy watching Joel Osteen and I'm Wiccan (please don't send me hate mail...he has a very dynamic personality and says some really interesting things sometimes). But will I follow him to the Gates of Heaven? No...he's human just like me and he makes mistakes.

Follow your heart and your mind...it will guide you in the right way.

Anyone can preach from the Bible, they can give their interpetation of what they believe it says, the Bible is a very complicated book. Millions of people can read the Bible and get a different meaning. Do what your heart tells you to do!

I would follow whatever is cheaper. Paying ten percent of my pretax income to tithe sounds like crap to me also. Does the church keep up with inflation? And is it a coincidence that salvation and taxation rhyme... I THINK I DISCOVERED A CONSPIRACY!

Do you have an unnatural obsession with this worman or what? It's like your 4th question about her. She's a charlatan, like all televangelists, get over it.
