When you can't ask questions but obey a religious figure above the Lord's commandments, faith is whom comes into question.

I think that your deacon was speaking unwisely by setting himself up as the judge of other people who profess a faith in Jesus Christ. Did he actually go out and interview a number of these people or is he merely spreading gossip based upon rumors?

James 4:11 Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. (12) There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

Melissa Scott doesn't have a cult, as your deacon says. She doesn't say or preach anything that isn't straight out of the Bible. Her congregation is well-educated, with bright minds. Her concentration on ancient languages can at times be confusing, but her heart's in the right place. Her late husband was a great preacher and teacher. She is carrying on his work as best she can.

I have no idea who this Melissa person is. Given that, my advice to you would be to look into what she believes and teaches. Consult your Bible and see where you stand. If she is teaching her own Theories or Opinions as fact, then I, personally, wouldn't listen to her.

If the deacon only has a problem with her being a woman who is "preaching", then I would dismiss his comments. Alot of the "old school" peole still believe that women shouldn't preach the word of God.

There will be MANY false prophets..... NEVER follow the word of MAN, always follow the word of GOD.

It sounds like a dictatorship! Pastor melissa is only denying herself the value of wise input from the elders in leadership and handling matters of spirit and guiding the congregation. The woman is foolish to demand obedience. It puts a lot of pressure on her and is wrong.

The woman is an idiotic fool to rant she's the one voice best messenger of God's word with the only true church. Cult behavior demands obedience without thought or questioning, encourages dependents and switches between praise and abuse. Once hooked the poor ones caught in the web have to be sheep to exist. Every moment is spent on what will please the leader and what won't. They live, eat, sleep, drink, think, dream and talk about pleasing the leader to the exclusion of all else. That's not Christianity.

I personally like Pastor Melissa. She treats the audience with respect and does not mess with viewer emotions. She is the only tv peacher I can actually appreciate.

everyone exhibits foolish faith and sheep-like behavior at some time or another. They are doing what they believe is right and correct. Most of the rest of us believe they are wrong.

Although I'm sure this is a joke...if it's not you are too much dude! You see the irony in being told by someone that people act like sheep when they believe what they are told by someone?

The Ironing is Delicious!

I think that anybody who wakes up in the morning and has nothing better to do than to come on Y!A and judge other people (like poor ol' dead Gene Scott and his wife) is mentally disturbed and should be seeking professional help.
