I don't think we lower our expectations I think that we become more realistic as we get older.

HELL yes.
at 16 I wanted a Goddess who wanted sex ALL the time
at 25 I wanted a good looking Lady who wanted sex
at 35 I just wanted good sex
after 2 marriages (never again) and few more years
I just want sex with a Lady

Me too! I think that the 'clue' here is that we were not 'looking' for love at all, so it had a chance to 'find us' when we were not 'running all around, looking under bushes' ... and I was 46 when I found my 'fairy tale' ...
