In a world created by God, why would he create animals that become extinct?

Some have been over hunted by humans (kiwi bird). Some died with the ice age (wooly mammoth). Some were wiped out en masse and we aren't sure how (dinosaurs). Pick any outcome you like to expand upon.

The main cause of animal extinction is hunting and the destruction of their natural habitat, not to mention climate change.
The Quagga,a zebra-like animal from Africa, was hunted into extinction for their meat and hides.
The Laysan Rail,a bird from Hawaii, became extinct because of World War 2.
The Polar Bear is in danger of becoming extinct due to global warming. Once again, our fault.
I could list many, many more extinct or endangered animals, but they all have one thing in common - they are extinct or in danger of becoming extinct mainly because of human activity.
Once God created all the animals,He put their welfare into the hands of man. We haven't only failed God in this very important task, but we have also failed the animals. At the rate mankind is going,it won't be long before we also are put on the endangered species list.

He created this world very good. After the arrival of sin, it is no longer very good. When sin got to a high level, He decided to cleanse the world with water, and change things. The air is thinner, and men only live 70 years now, and animals that needed the thicker air can't live. As we pollute things more and more it causes more imbalance. YHVH will return to destroy those people who destroy the earth.(Rev. 11:18) Then He will make all things very good again, and sin will not rise up a second time!

God's time isn't our time, maybe they just got boring. Maybe He decided to go with something with a bit more than the little pea brain most dinosaurs had. Who knows, and really, who cares? I'm just glad we don't have to deal with T-Rex eating us. I do hope they have some success cloning the wooly mammoth though, (yeah, I know, christians aren't suppose to go for cloning, and I usually don't), but you gotta admit, it would have to be an adorable baby critter.

did these animals become extinct by themselves, or were there perhaps outside influences that contributed to their extinction?
