The best result for shiny hair is to give it a little TLC.. Don't use silicone laden conditioners, clarify once a week, and deep condition after clarifying. Try to keep heat styling to a minimum. If you must heat style, after you clarify use a protein treatment once a week like Nexxus KerapHix. Use a leave-in conditioner daily. Some good shampoos and conditioners are:
Nexxus Therappe (shampoo)
Nexxus Humectress (conditioner/can also be used as a leave-in)
Regis Olive Oil Shampoo and Conditioner
Bumble & bumble Creme de Cocoa Shampoo and Conditioner
TiGi Oatmeal & Honey Shampoo & Conditioner

The best shampoo I've used so far was actually marked as body wash. I know it sounds really funny, but it was an organic oatmeal body wash. (pink and white bottle, I can't remember the namebrand, but it was the cheapest at the healthfood store.) It was really soft and tamable.
Keep in mind, Oatmeal is what they use on dogs and cats who need moisture and softness to their fur. It obviously worked wonders on my butt-length hair!!!
BTW, don't use herbal essence. It will create a serious wax build up, and Dove leaves it icky too!!! Try to stick with something aloe, or organic if you can!!!

Hey
Im italian and my hair is very natrually curly- i have to straighten it everyday, but most of the tiem it looks dry and not shiny.. my friend has very thin shiny hair... drives me nuts.. So i asked my stylist... She sid pantene Pro V gives you the shine, but is very bad for your hair, it contains beeswax for the shine leaving you with the silky feeling, allowing your hair not to grow and to be damaged from no nutrients..
Shiny hair- Biologe.. Sun silk works good to.
I would go to a saloon and buy some there, its not that expensive

I think Redken products are the best for your hair and for shine. Find a local salon that offers Redken and ask one of the stylists what she recomments. Redken also makes a spray that you can use after drying hair that adds great shine.

Just something that moisturizes. If you like the expensive stuff Biosilk is nice. But for those of us with normal budgets, Garne Fructis and Dove work just as well.
BTW, Asian people have really beautiful hair :) I've always admired it!
