I think it's knowing yourself and who you are as I feel you can't really achieve anything else important without that under you.

Some people fare much better all their lives, specifically because they do not know themselves. A healthy state of self-delusion, you might call it. If these people knew themselves, they would be destroyed emotionally. Examples -- someone who thinks she's beautiful, but she really isn't; someone who thinks he's brilliantly talented, but he isn't.
Knowing yourself is not always best. Thinking positively about yourself -- no matter how "accurate"-- is better in many if not most instances.

as long as you stick to your guns in wot you believe in you will go a long way never change for anybody you are your own person never forget that. honesty is the most important thing in life.

Good point. But that's just your life as an individual. Maybe broaden your meaning of the word life, and I think it more importantly would be to help preserve the future of our planet, that we are quickly destroying and using up selfishly.
