If you're looking for a new car, get a copy of Consumer Reports. It's a monthly magazine that does objective reviews of damn near everything. They are funded only by subscriptions, so they receive no compensation from the product manufacturers, and therefore will not hold back or over-rate something.
I think they may also have a special car issue which looks not only at new cars, but also the reliability of certian models.
