If God created the universe and has been around for all time, our worship should not mean very much. If it's true that we were put on Earth by God then there should be another reason for the existence of the human race other than to just worship him. He/she/it doesn't need it. What do you think?

God does not 'need' our worship. He is worthy of our worship. God desires a loving relationship with you. Worship is of value because it is giving God His rightful place, allows an outlet for the adoration and love we have for Him, and He is pleased with that out-pouring of affection. Ever get a hug from a small child?

I agree. I don't think "God" NEEDS worship... or even desires it in the sense so many in mainstream religions claim. If it is truly Love, then Love would not demand to be worshipped in that way. If God is looking for a relationship, he wouldn't ask for worship in that way. Relationships are not about WORSHIP... it's about respecting the other person and being honest with that person. Now, even though Worship means respect, it's a different type of respect. It doesn't go both ways... it is only respect from one person to another (being). That is Not a Relationship.... but a master/slave situation. You can still respect the "master"... but that is not a relationship that is built on Love. That is a relationship that is built on power and control. Personally, I don't see God needing such things... or even wanting them. And I think our purpose(s) for existing is that we Live Life... and not squandor what we've been given. The first gift given to everyone alive, is life itself. How you live it shows great respect (or lack of it).

There is a great book written by JOnathan Edwards 300 years ago called "The End for which God created the World" and it is reprinted with a great commentary and explanation section called "God's Passion for God's Glory"

In part, it would be unloving if God did not want us to worship Him, He is the thing that most satisfied the human heart. The glory of God and the desires of man resonate perfectly in heaven, it's awesome

but everyday people pick gutter water over the living water of God... it takes grace for them to come to their senses

Good needs nothing. He is completely self contained. He doesn't NEED our worship just as he didn't NEED to create us in the first place. He did it out of love and we worship him out of the same motivation.

Believer or not, is that concept that difficult to understand?

Let me ask you this: Imagine that one day you were completely alone, with NOTHING and physically really ill. You saw no hope that your situation would improve. Along comes a man who takes you in. Heals you. Feeds you. Comforts you emotionally and then once you're all better gives you everything you need to continue taking care of yourself, including a lovely new home fully stocked with everything you need. Wouldn't you do a little worshipping of your own?

Exactly. God doesn't need us to worship Him. We need it. We were put on this earth for much more than to simply worship God. We are His children and heirs, in every sense of the words. By worshiping him, we keep a clear focus on that fact and on our ultimate potential and destination.

The glory of God is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

God doesn't need anything from anyone. It is entirely for our own benefit to worship Him, not His. Just like a wealthy kind father doesn't need anything from his children, but if his children serve him and love him, the father reciprocates even further with love and kindness.

He doesn't NEED us to worship Him. He wants a personal relationship with us. Just as parents choose to have children, we are His children. When you realize how much He loves you, it creates a desire to worship Him. The worship is our act of love toward Him.

Nope. Sorry. Our only reason to live is to worship God. I mean, if you're of a religion that says so, like Christianity. I would like to think im also here on earth to see how many chicken wings i can eat.

As others have said, God does not "need" us to worship him. He also didn't "have" to create us.

Just like parents expect their children to be obedient because they were brought into this world out of love, so also, God expects us to be obedient. He created us out of love & so we should be moved to love him in return.
