Ginger beer helps to the vomiting, deal with cough. No animal protein in any kind as it will feed the virus. It is very good reason body is raising it external temp to stop virus spreading. Calpol does complete opposite - it is flu an dmy kids recover within 24 hrs from symptoms like this and where Calpol they would take 1 week

My twin girls had exactly the same symptoms. The cough was ver 'lumpy' and the aches seemed similar to Flu.
We were recommended Covonia (the menthylated one).
2 days later they were much better.
My girls are both 7 years old and could have the medicine.

Talk to your pharmacist for advice on what to use and if your really worried make her an appointment with your doctor.

5 days with just Calpol is quite a long time for no improvement.

I'd choose the doctor.

My son is just now getting over an illness with symptoms very similar to this. He went for weeks, a couple months, in fact, not feeling good and having to cough quite a bit.

I finally convinced him to see a medical professional and his nurse practitioner was amazed that he didn't feel even worse than he did. She said he had infections in both ears and a sore throat, too. After some prescribed antibiotics, he is now feeling much better.

So, the reason I told you all of this is because the advice you've been given by others here is good advice and I'd follow it, if I were you. Only a professional will be able to tell what is wrong with your child, and only after he or she has examined your daughter in person.

My son wishes he had gone to the clinic much earlier than he did.

Best wishes for your daughter's speedy return to good health.

If she is having continue fever & cough since 5 days chances r she is suffering from Acute lower Respirtory infection may be viral or more probably bacterial. Take her to Physcian for consultation as these may be signs of pnumonitis . Simple blood test like total leucocyte count & differenciatial count & an xray chest may clarify the situation . She may needs to put on antibiotic . Give her calpol & lots of warm drinks in the meantime.

Sorry, your daughter is sick. My daughter and i were sick with flu bug for almost two weeks! It's hard to even get better when so many people around are sick and the bug travels. I think if she has got bad cough now you better take to the doctor again and make him to exam her. I hope she will feel better soon and you take care.

Any time in my opinion when a young child starts running a fever, they need to be seen by the doctor. You didn't say how old or how high the fever is. Just a rule of thumb colds typically get worse when the sun goes down. While your waiting for her to get into the doctor, treat her as you would when she has a cold (comfort measures).

I have three kids and my Dr. always says to bring them in when they have a fever. So I would take her in, it could be the flu but with all the more serious viruses going around better safe than sorry. Good luck hope she gets to feeling better soon>

Hi - I think youd better take her to see a doc as 5 days is a long time for a kid to be unwell, they normally bounce back quickly from these bugs. Go on, off you go. Hope she feels better soon!xx

I would recommend you take your daughter to her primary pediatrician. I would not feel satisfied until the doctor examine your daughter. It is always best to sure than have your doctor take an educated guess. I hope your daughter feels well. Good Luck!!
