This concept is another example of the stupididty of religion. The idea of streets being made of pure gold is a very materialistic human notion, and would be at complete odds with the religious precepts of austerity and doing without material extravagance. Makes you understand that this stuff was written by human beings with human desires and has no divine inspiration at all.
