Religion is tricky because a lot of religions have encouraged this ideal relationship between a man and a woman. It doesn't say that LGBT marriage is not okay, but then again it doesn't say that it is. Which is why some Catholics are hostile or not understanding to gays. However, that isn't what religion should be about. It is supposed to be about understanding and caring for another. The world is changing fast though. It is a movement and eventually (I hope) it is going to be a lot more accepted. Besides, not all Catholics are against gay marriage. Some are a little more open minded, claiming they all aren't is a bit of a stereotype. Some of my great Catholic friends are allies :) and their church has a big gay flag over the front

You have two questions. Here are two answers.

Homosexuality is a perversion of something great that God created. This is found throughout scripture in the old and new testaments.

The Catholic Church sometimes protects gay pedophile priests for a couple of reasons. First, people are not perfect - this refers to both the priests and the leaders of churches. First of all, if a priest does something like that, the church has a responsibility to remove that priest from any situation where that could happen again (morally and biblically). It turns out that pedophilia is currently illegal in the US. From that standpoint, the church has a legal obligation to turn the priest over to the authorities. God is perfect, but people are not.

IMO the Catholic Church is confused in the area of lifetime celibacy. Although Peter writes that the ideal state for a man to learn about God is by being alone, he mentions that this is not possible for most people - and if it is not possible, do not torture yourself with temptation (get a wife!). Most sects of Christianity have "priests" or "pastors" marry (being married has a horde of benefits).

the Bible is pretty clear

the most consistent thing to do would be for the Catholic church to discipline and find help for the offending priests to repent and change, hopefully be restored and should help those harmed by offending priests to restore them. Hopefully this did not become a stumbling block for the children in life because every christian knows it is better to have a millston tied around your kneck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble

and Christians know deep down, Jesus would most certainly welcome anyone and also say "go and sin no more". He loves you as you are, he loves you too much to leave you as you are.
"such some of you are but you were cleansed" corinthians

In my opinion, they should allow priests to marry like Anglicans would. In fact in my city there is a married catholic priest because he was anglican who was married who converted... the one case they allow a married priest

The Christian Church over all is against gay marriage and that is their right. The teaching of the Bible speak against this practise and so whether society likes it or not that is the way it is in the Church. As for Catholic Churches and paedophile priests, they will have to give an account to God someday and it will not be pleasant. Take care for your own sins as you too will face judgement day.

Jesus practiced Celibacy in the Bible. But Jesus life wasn't recorded until 350 years later by second hand accounts. All priest are portraying Jesus with a life of celibacy. The bible has many mythical attributes, and asking a man to never engage in sex is UN-natural. This leads to secret temptations and deviant behavior-a very big flaw in this religion.
P.S What if Jesus was married? This would change everything.

WWJD? Jesus personally described marriage as the holy union between a man and a woman.

The Catholic Church believes that God himself is the author of marriage and has created it for one man and one woman.

The Church further teaches that being homosexual is not a sin but that all single people (heterosexual and homosexual) are called to celibacy.

What civil governments decide to do is up to their citizens and the constitution of the country.

But the Church has a commission from Jesus Christ to "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, ... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."

In obedience to this command, the Church has been telling world governments what it believes is right and wrong since the time of the Romans.

With love in Christ.

The Catholic church is run by men. Don't judge Christians by the actions of some who claim to be Christian. Jesus is the real example, not other Christians. We're all trying to grow in our relationship with Jesus and some are more mature than others.

As far as the gay issue, the bible is pretty clear on that.

First of all, I am not a Catholic and disagree with many of the Catholic church's dogmas. However, they should be against gay marriage because the Bible is.

It is a shame how the Catholic Church has handled pedophile priests. Jesus would have exposed this hypocrisy. All sin must be judged.

Lev 18:22 "Don't have sex with a man as one does with a woman. That is abhorrent.

This is what the bible says....and although I am not a Catholic they are abosultely right.

As for the actions of the Church I agree there is need for greater accoutablilty and need to find ways to deal with issues without hiding.

It's a problem of semantics. Generally speaking when you bring a new product to the market you want it to stand out with a new name. Computers were not called new and improved typewriters, televisions were not called radiovision, radios were not called live telegraph. Why can't gays be happy with Civil Union? Or if not that I suggest GAYRRIAGE, QUEERRIAGE, OR HOMORRIAGE.
Straight people have a big stake on the name. You gays must realize that butt love or dildo love is not the same as marriage.
