The first thing you are going to have to do is learn to spell. When you take the written driver's test, they will want to know what the **** you are saying.

On September 19, 1949, the United Nations established the International Driving Document to facilitate the travel of motorists in foreign countries where language barriers create difficulties for both motorists and police. This document establishes the right for a person to drive in another country.

All an international driver's license does is translate your current driver's license into several languages, and is NOT a driver's license per se. It must be carried with your license, and merely helps local police to see you are licensed in your country to drive.

Don't leave home without it. (In other words, you should have applied and received it there, not here.)

If you already got your license in the country where you came from you will just have to translate it yours into English language. But if you do not have any license then go ahead- get a book with driving roles of your state, take a test, take a driving course and driving test and you will get an international driver license like everybody else in us. But you can do it only you have a visa and any picture ID. Good luck. For that information you also better to call your DMV.

You must get that at home before you come to the US.

An IDP is only a translation of your national license and is only valid when accompanied by your national license.

An IDP is never valid in the country where it is issued so you cannot get one in the US that can be used in the US.

You need to read English, where ever you land (state wise) pick up a book at the local D.M.V. (Department of Motor Vehicles) read the book from cover to cover, go take the test. =o)

Good luck!
