My car was towed away on Friday as I had parked ajacent to a drop in the pavement, something which I see all the time in London. I am happy to pay a parking ticket, but the tow fee was £150. Someon said there has to be an hour time period between issuing a ticket and towing your car away. Is this true???

Sorry but you are going to be lighter in the purse.

How would you feel if someone parked across an access you needed to use for an emergency - would you be willing to wait an hour?

If the car is considered to parked in a dangerous position, the police or traffic warden when issuing a ticket, will ask for the vehicle to be towed away as soon as possible.

Parking by a dropped kerb blocks the vision of anyone trying to cross the road at that point (wheelchair user, elderly person, parent with a pushchair) and is therefore considered dangerous.

Take this as an expensive lesson not to be forgotten.

Parking is now seen as a cash cow so the slightest misdemeanour will get you a fine of some sort before you even get out of the car - Think London Bus Lane and yellow box cameras where the tickets are issued by a machine direct to you house with no appeal allowed. Thats what Labour is doing to the ordinary citizens of this country.

Nope. If you park in a tow-away zone, you may get a ticket, but they can tow as soon as the truck gets there.

No, as the prick is writing out your ticket, he/she has already called for the tow truck, good little earner for some bastards, they are the spawn of a thousand scabrous slugs.

it depends on what the regulations are for the place where you parked.

you have to read the signs (if you can ever find them!!) and they should tell you the regulations for that area.

but i do know that if your car is deemed to be a danger then it can be towed straight away no matter what the signs say.

Agree with Bugglestooth, if you were blocking an access then tough luck.
