Soap dries out the skin, and so does water, strangely enough.

Because soap sucks out all the natural oils in your hands. Also, not drying your hands well will make them more chapped. Try not to use antibacterial soaps. They're worthless. Washing your hands for 20 seconds, at least, is what matters. If you can use some lotion afterwards, that will help, too.

Not only does soap dry out your skin, but so does hot water. Use warm water and a soft soap (if possible), and use lotion every time you wash your hands, even though you are going to wash it right off again.

You're washing away all your natural essential oils. It's best to use an antibacterial soap that has natural moisturizers in them.
