My husband was covicted of a felony when he was 18 (he is 30 now). Do they do a background check when you apply for a passport and if so can you be denied for a passport. My 11 year old daughter just went to Canada with my parents for a year and I need to know what we will be facing if we have to get a passport to go over there should the need arise.

he may be able to get a passport, but he may or may not be allowed into canada. Most countries won't allow anyone with a felony conviction into their country. I would double check before you go.
