I have a stomach virus and have been throwing up for two days. It's hard for me to stomach anything (even Gatorade) I haven't eaten anything since Sunday, and I am starving now but afraid to eat.... Any suggestions?

If water still makes you sick, you need to start slow! The BRAT diet is a good start. (Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) The thing is, you need to only take a few bites of one thing above. If you can keep it down for more than 20 minutes, take a few more bits.

Water will absolutely make you throw up when you have a stomach virus. Don't bother with it until you feel you can keep any of the above mentioned food down for a period of time.

*You may also want to try to suck on popsicals or lollipops.

These are things that I've always done for my two children when they get stomach viruses.

Try papaya. It works for when the food won't stay in you going the other way, might work for this too. The doc recommended it for a bad virus I had once. Said water for 24 hours, then only liquids for the next 24 that I could see through, nothing carbonated. He did say papaya was safe from hour one. He said it has things in it to help, not cause more problems. At least I was able to eat it and keep it in me. Made me feel a lot better.

I have been throwing-up since Monday. Saltines are good for you, try soup, but most important Drink!!!! If you don't nothing will come out when you throw-up and you will have to be rushed to the hospital, or doctor and you will be given a shot. Trust me, you don't want to dehydrate.

I know that isnt much help, but what I do know is, IS THAT prayer works, and I will continue to pray for you, that this virus leaves you VERY soon! God BLESS you....~~.^7^

Try warm chicken broth and crackers, not heavy wheat ones, just light crackers like Saltines. Also just try to drink warm tea and try to stomach some fruit like apples, but ify ou aren't ready for that, just stick to wamr liquids and crakers.

I usually find saltines to help, or oyster crackers. It is what my mom used to give me when I would get a bad stomach, and it seemed to work out alright. 7Up is sometimes good too, otherwise I stick to water.

Bananas, crackers, oatmeals, water... Are you sure it's caused by stomach virus? It can be GERD- Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Have some ranitidine to help you...

I completely agree with momathome....the BRAT diet works the best, no matter what age you are.

Also, rest, the more sleep you get, even if its just resting peacefully on the couch, the better.
