My friends and I always try out eat each other in the chilli steaks. While I understand that it is always good atleast be able to taste the food but the purpose of our eatoff is too see who eat the most chilli.

I was the winner but was beaten last year :-(. I await our eatoff to reclaim my crown and retire a champ :-)!

Thanks to everybody who has answered.

A NEW chilli sauce goes on sale today that is so hot it could KILL.

Ultra-concentrated “16 Million Reserve” is the hottest science can make.

The sauce is 30 times hotter than the spiciest pepper and 8,000 times more fiery than Tabasco.

Diners must sign a disclaimer recommending “protective gloves and eye wear” — but even sweating testers in safety gear were blinded by tears for 30 minutes.

Just 999 bottles of it are on sale at £105 each.

Medical experts fear it could kill asthmatics or hospitalise a user who touches a sensitive part of the body afterwards.

The hottest chilli peppers in the world are Naga peppers and Red Savina Habaneros. Both are rated at times over 800,000 Scoville units. A Jalapeno, for example, is typically only 40,000 to 70,000 Scovilles.

For the sauce to be very hot, there should be NO vinegar (it cooks the pepper and reduces the heat) and it should be a pure mash without a lot of additives.

There are also extracts which pack as much heat (which comes from the chemical known as Capsaicin) as possible in a sauce - but the flavour is usually bitter and unpleasant, with few exceptions.

If you truly want to know about hot sauces, visit here: www.peppermaster.com
and you will be amazed... I know the owner of the company and he knows peppers as well as ANYONE.

No point finding the hottest sauce available if you cant taste the food. Dont get me wrong, i can handle the heat better than most but why overpower the taste for the sake of proving a point. Locally available Habanero paste from the Aust chilli company does the job just fine. Ive tried most of what can be imported from se asia or mexico and it just doesnt hold up. You want hottest ? make it yourself, if you can navigate a kitchen its really not too hard and you can flavour to your liking.

There are so many hot sauces on the market it is unbelievable. You can try the internet under chiles, hot sauces and you can also try the chili pepper magazine which will tell you the degrees of hotness. I believe you can sign up for this magazine and the first and second issue is free. Check it out. As you probably know, the haberano chili is the hottest in the world. Look on labels to insure this is listed as the first ingredient. Good luck

A brand from Hong Kong, "Koon Yick Wah Kee" has all sorts of condiments, and their chilli sauce is really powerful.

Oh man they featured the hottest CHILI in the world at Ripley's a few weeks back. Its from Africa/Asia -- a country that starts with the letter B.. anyway..

Tabasco is my all time favorite. I think they have extra extra spicy these days...

Go to an Asian grocery and look for Korean chili sauce--it's basically chilli puree. Or look for "Kitchen Magic" brand Gujarati Chutney...definitely makes your hair smoke!
