Apples I am not sure about. However, strawberries, celery, tomatoes are what is called CATABOLIC FOODS. They require more calories to digest than what is actually in the food.

No...Don't listen to Joey K above. Joey, don't you be the moron. Proper eating is the EASIEST and QUICKEST way to lose weight. Celery and apples are both packed with loads of insoluble fiber, which means your digestive system has to work harder to break the foods down, thus burning more calories. While I cannot confirm nor deny the belief that apples burn more calories than they provide, the theory is plausible and DOES hold true for celery.

People don't gain 6packs from eating bushels of apples because muscles require strenuous exercise to become defined and toned....ESPECIALLY having a 6pack, which is largely based on genetics and physiology (which means not everyone can have a 6pack, even if they eat bushels of apples and work out like nuts). One thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other. Do your research, buddy.

It's not even true for celery. You dont lose weight by eating food.

Punx is one of the complete idiots that keep this nation far behind others in intelligence- strrawberries and tomatoes he is sure about? Based on what- his feelings?

Think about it- if apples (or strawberries as a different moron said) take more calories to digest, why wouldn't eating 10 pounds of strawberries or a bushel of apples make you have a six pack? THINK, you idiots!

I haven't heard that, but I have heard that regardless of the calories in an apple, they are really good to eat because of the fiber that keeps you full and is good for you, especially an hour or so before a meal because you will then eat less. The Fit for Life people recommend eating a piece of fruit(s) in the morning on an empty stomache. Check it out it is kind of an interesting theory.

I've never heard about the apple thing, but you are right about the celery. Possibly is true - apples are just as hard as celery, but they do have more natural sugars in them.

It is true for apples. apples and some other fruits are 'negative' calorie foods. This is because the amount of energy needed to digest apples is more than the calories that the apple actually provides!
hope this answers your question.

No, apples have quite a lot of calories in them - typically about 100 calories mainly from carbohydrates.

Many fruits have quite a lot of naturally occuring sugars in them and so are quite high in colories. Avocado's have half as many calories as pure sugar.

Lowest calorie fruits are grapes, melons and strawberries - all less then half the calories of apples.
