I have been 2 kerala many timees and know about the roads there. If you are looking for a small car then i would advise you to go for the maruti Swift top end model with airbags, ABS which will be helpful in the frequently rainy drives that one has to make in kerala. It is pretty low on maintenance and gives quite high mileage also around 16-a7 kmpl for petrol model. The diesel was released yesterday but u may have trouble in delivery being late fue to high demand for the diesel. If u want a sedan or saloon sized car go for the TATA Indigo Diesel LX or SX which is great for your specifications. I use one myself.

the most acceptable motor vehicle acceptable for indian roads is a Tata Indica V2 speedier. It has strong floor clearence to take on the unmarked speed breakers and potholes. that is really spacious and is derived at a sensible cost. notwithstanding it has some adverse factors like the no longer-so-sophisticated engine. Mahindra Bolero will be a stupid decision because of its hopeless braking and dealing with. It even has a -120 proper speed . Mahindra Scorpio will be a extra effective decision because of its handsome seems and efficient engine . notwithstanding it suffers from body roll. finally the autos which in structure the indian roads are the scorpio and indica, whichever suits your funds.

Pick up a Tata Indigo Marina at about 5.5Lakhs. You get a large car with a great suspension which runs economically on diesel.
No really good midsized cars come within your budget I'm afraid.
