My 2 year old buff orange tabby cat Gizmo is very long and slender down his sides but his tummy underneath hangs down. I only noticed this after he was nutered. Is he fat or is this normal? If he is fat why are his sides so skinny? Why does it only show on the bottom? When he runs his belly wiggles from side to side.

that's normal, my tabby has a little pooch too. to tell if a cat is overweight, look at him from the top (looking down on his back) if his belly comes out farther than his spine, he is overweight. Also, if you can't feel his ribs, he is considered overweight.

It sounds to me like your kitty has LOST a lot of weight and you are seeing the excess skin hanging down there. I would take him to the vet for a check up. Totally understandable with a "Mommy" cat who's just weaned all the kittens, but not in a male. No, I don't think your cat is fat, I think he's losing weight---but, why?

It's been my observation over the years, as I have had many cats. That all the mature ones have that little bit of hanging flesh. Even though they are not over weight. I think it allows them that long slender stretch when they run, or get into small tight spaces. I think it's part of their natural anatomy.

at the same time as your 14 you shouldn't actually have nor challenge about some thing like that you've infant fat reserves after your pregnant for the fetus to live on then you surely start up to free it when you've had the newborn.. are you having somewhat one?

I think its normal since my cats have that same pouch and are very active. I would check with the vet just in case.

It sounds normal to me, but you might want to ask a vet and see what he thinks. Good luck!
