Neither, it was thief and murder by Peter.
Ahahaha,so pious.
That particular story sounds just like theives, robbing
and murdering that poor couple.
The property was theirs and so was the money.
If they choose not to give it, so what.
It is amazingly exceptional how some can justify murder
and thief in the name of the so called lord.
Some was not good enough for old Peter he wanted it all.
The Bible Acts 5: 1 - 11
Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself,
but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet.
Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her,
"Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?" "Yes," she said, "that is the price."
Peter said to her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also."
At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

I think it wise and proper to first look into the teachings of the early Church Fathers, to see what their reasoning in the Holy Spirit is. Then by simple prayer of my own, try to summarize the answer in a way that we can apply it now. So, my response below is based on the testimony supporting it.
In Summary:
The three purposes cited by Church Fathers for the judgment of death concerning Ananias and Sapphira by the action of the Holy Spirit, was carried out in Providence to demonstrate:
1. Primacy of Peter: that the judgment of Peter has power in heaven as well as on earth, and that the power established by Christ upon Peter is eternal, "and upon this rock I shall build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
2. That God was the benefactor of the Church in Grace suppying all in His Providence as a gift from the influent work of charity. Ananias and Sapphira were receiving this beneficient gift of God, but sought to cheat Him and their fellows; thus the Lord passed a summary judgment to set an example of what would follow in due course those who attempt this. (Many modern evangelists may think about this now.)
3. This was a sacrilege in the use of Church Property. This was no ordinary fraud or conspiracy, this was a desecration. They took what had been consecrated to God for His Holy Purposes and used for their own personal gain.
Conclusion:
When Moses went up to Mt. Sinai, the Lord spoke to him from the Burning Bush, admonishing him to remove his shoes for he was standing on Holy Ground. Shoes represent a walk of life, and an ordinary use of a facility, such as the ground. Removing the shoes was a sign of departing from ordinary use, into a sanctified place. Within a sanctuary, the ritual use of objects considered sacred, has a proscription defined around it, that carries a weight of law associated with it. Because of this, one should be careful in the manner such elements are handled, with the reverence and the encumbant responsibility the Lord has commanded. This passage reminds the Church of this faithful correspondence.
Early Church Fathers:
1.When Ananias and Sapphira attempt to deceive the Apostles and the people Peter appears as judge of their action, and God executes the sentence of punishment passed by the Apostle by causing the sudden death of the two guilty parties (ibid., v, 1-11). By numerous miracles God confirms the Apostolic activity of Christ's confessors. (Writings about Peter)
2.And thus, as they captured in the spiritual net of their doctrine five thousand believers at once, so they confuted the misguided rulers of the people and chief priests, and that, not through their own wisdom, for they were unlearned and ignorant men Acts 4:13, but through the mighty power of the Holy Ghost; for it is written, Then Peter filled with the Holy Ghost said to them. So great also was the grace of the Holy Ghost, which wrought by means of the Twelve Apostles in them who believed, that they were of one heart and of one soul, and their enjoyment of their goods was common, the possessors piously offering the prices of their possessions, and no one among them wanting anything; while Ananias and Sapphira, who attempted to lie to the Holy Ghost, underwent their befitting punishment. (St. Cyril)
3.But if any one act otherwise (which may God forbid), let him take care lest he meet the condemnation of Ananias and Sapphira, and be found guilty of sacrilege, as those were who lied as to the price of the property designated, of whom we read thus in the before-cited passage of the Acts of the Apostles: "But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold land (agrum), and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said to Ananias, Why has Satan tempted (tentavit) your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whilst it remained, was it not your own? and after it was sold, was it not in your own power? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied unto men, but unto the Lord. And Ananias, hearing these words, fell down, and gave up the ghost. And great fear came on all them that heard these things. And the young men arose, and removed him (amoverunt), and carried him out, and buried him. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter answered unto her, and said, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of them which have buried your husband are at the door, and shall carry you out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost. And the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. And great fear came upon all the Church, and upon as many as heard these things." Acts 5:1-11 These things, brethren, are carefully to be guarded against, and greatly to be feared. For the property of the Church, not being like personal, but like common property, and property offered to the Lord, is to be dispensed with the deepest fear, in the spirit of faithfulness, and for no other objects than the above-named, lest those should incur the guilt of sacrilege who divert it from the hands to which it was consigned, (Pope Urban)
