Sauna Coals

It's a new fad in europe to breathe in alcohol vapors to get drunk. They actually have bars with masks! You would need a lot of vodka to saturate the sauna's air enough to do it, but you definately could. Ohh, and just like gas, alcohol's fumes burn, so you need a spark or an open flame to ignite. Even then, the saturation must be higher than 40% (80 proof in liquid form, or a 40% air to alcohol ratio when in gas form) for there to be a chance for some real damage to be done.

if you are using a safe way of turning the vodka to steam yes you can, you absorb the alcohol into the bloodstream slightly through the skin but mainly through the vesels in the nose

when creating an alcoholic gas it is important not to set fire to the alcohol, flaming sambucas used in gas chambers are not releasing alcohol into the glass while they are aliht, it is the heat after the flame has gone out that causes the alcohol to turn to gas

you would be best locking yourself in a sealed room and putting the alcohol on a stove and boiling it as this would launch a higher concentration of alcohol...

i would also recomond you use a stronge frm of alcohol such as absinthe for this experiment as the alcohol content is far higher (roughly 70% - 95% (140% - 190% proof)) you would need to make surethe room is airtight other than some form of getting fresh oxygen to you whn you start to feel lightheaded

a far better experiment would to go zorbing http://www.bbc.co.uk/dorset/content/articles/2004/10/13/zorbing_feature.shtml and fill the zorb with some form of alcohol so it wushes around and vapourises, also gets drunk and inevitably is consumed through the eye while bouncing down a large hill in a giant hamster ball

good luck with the experimenting

No, as some one previously mentioned, the alcohol would likely burn off on the coals. Even if it didn't though, it wouldn't be a very good idea. Alcohol vapor can quickly fill an area and, mixed with oxygen, cause an explosion. High proof spirits will burn outright, but even low proof alcohols can produce a large amount of vapor since alcohol boils around 174 degree farenheit. Also, even though there are devices to allow you to breathe alcohol vapors, it can quickly lead to over consumption. Obviously in a confined area, you'd have no control over the continued intake of alcohol.
I can't say for sure that it wouldn't work, but I feel pretty confident in urging you not to try.

The vodka would ignite the hot coals and cause a fire. Even if you boiled a pan of vodka on the stove and inhaled the fumes you wouldn't get drunk. Heat destroys alcohol. That's why you should never store your bar stock somewhere hot.

Sounds very unreasonable to do so... If you're running out of creative ways to get high means you're probably at the bottom of the barrel, mate! Although, it's a very intriguing question!

I should say not. It would take so many bottles if it were even possible. Call Mythbusters. It would be nice to see the red head nice and sweaty anyway. Drunk would be a bonus.

Haphazard has it right. A friend of mine tried this in his sauna and it created a big fireball. Don't do it.

No, the heat would burn the alcohol off, but you would have to be drunk to think of such a thing.
