For the past few days, my 1 year old Emma is attracted to 1 corner in my bedroom. She will either stare at it, look up and down like she is looking at something or paw at it. There is nothing there though! Any ideas? Last night she was pawing/scratching at it as if she was trying to catch something.

My cats are indoor cats. I would never expose them them to all the dangers outside.

It's the wall she is "seeing" something and the wall she is scratching.

Is she in a corner of the room with any kind of light BEHIND her? If so, she's seeing her shadow. If I have a lamp at just the "right place" where it will pick up a shadow of my hand, hair, whatever--usually at night, my cat will chase it. At first, I thought he'd lost his mind until I watched real close and actually saw the shadow myself. Now, I can do it on purpose and we do "Shadow-dancing". Check that out. If absolutely not (and you may NOT be able to see it from the angle you're at, at first), then my next guess would be that she's caught a spider or some kind of bug or whatever in that corner before and she's looking for another one. Another Kitty mystery to figure out---aren't they fun??

My cats are sometimes fascinated with different parts of the living room wall, even though I can never seem to find why. I think cats can see dirt, small bugs etc. on the wall (sometimes we can't see these things) and they love to play with these spots. I think what your cat is doing is completely normal. If she sees something there she may start to meow....which also is normal too. I am sure soon Emma will move on to another area. Good luck with the cat.

Maybe there is a mouse/rat underneath the floor or in the wall?
What your cat does sounds normal. I bet it's a mouse! Ewwwww!
Good luck with Emma!

It might be a shadow that she sees, even a little speck of dust or small gnat.
There may even be a small speck on the wall that she's become aware of.
Worst case is that there is something in the wall, like a mouse, rat, squirrel, mole or chipmunk...or even roaches or ants.

I guess cats have quirky behaviors too... my cat becomes really active and jumps from the couch and runs around the hallway around 6 in the morning, it never fails...and does not like human food...yes even the all popular fish

My cat would love to stare and scratch at a cushion on my couch. I guess they just have their favorite spots in their house.

My cat always scratches in one part of my bedroom carpet too. (no, we did not get her declawed and we are not going to) Once the cat likes a spot, maybe they always will.

could she have brought any "little friends" home from outside and put it there?
i know my cat would get fixated on corners or under tables where she's dumped half-living mousey friends that have then been evicted by us.
