Hi MT,
Depending on the size now it may grow a little more.
Both of my twin girls had one around the left eye and made it look as though they had been hit.
As they grew though the strawberry mark didn't and by the time they started primary school, it had faded to such an extent you wouldn't have been able to see anything unless you knew it had been there in the first place.
Many people who have these marks find they do fade although they make you worry at the time. It is only a small number of people actually who don't lose them and they normally have a large one in the first place.
Try not to worry and enjoy the baby.

I have a strawberry birthmark on my upper arm, I am now 27 and though it has faded a bit, it is still very much there. My nan also has one and it has never gone.

Who told you it will go? All people I know who have one, and they are common, still have it and were never told it will go eventually, just fade slightly. Is this just something you are hoping for to happen?

Mine is raised about a centimetre or so from the skin, it actually gets redder and raises more when it is hot out like in the summer, which makes it more noticeable.

So in answer to your question, it varies how much it might grow and it will probably not 'go' at all, just fade in colour to a dark pinky colour.

You may be lucky. My daughter has one on her upper leg. She is five now and it is barely visible.

The usual procedure is to make annual or six-monthly visits to the consultant. If the marks are not fading and are causing serious cosmetic problems for your son, then surgery may be considered. But that is the extreme option.

Only time will tell.

My son has one on his back. It grew to about 1 centimetre and it's starting to go now. He's nearly 4 and it's got a lot lighter in colour over the last year and got smaller.

My nephew had one on his neck, it grew upwards and outwards probably about 1cm. It had gone by the time he was 4 but Im not sure if they always do go away, someone else will probably be able to answer better.

I had one on the back of my leg as a child, eventually it split up as I got older. It's quite faded as well.
