control panel then add/remove hilite Norton then remove then go to search files/folders type Norton search then delete all then reinstall it

Firstly, go to the help file on Norton and see if you can sort it out that way. Failing that, go to Windows (Folder on C drive), Programs. This will give you a warning. Once in, all of your programs will be listed. Delete the Norton Spyware files.

I take it he downloaded an illegal copy? This is the price you have to pay for being dishonest. Norton illegal copies are being detected by Norton and it wouldn't work anyway.
There are free anti virus programs which you can download, such as AVG 7.5. Be honest and be safe!!!

Any version of Norton is the wrong one. Get AVG or similar.
To remove go to:
Start\Settings\Control Panel
Click on "add and remove programs"
remove all the norton stuff you see there and restart
