Some people have the misconception that while doing the Atkins you never eat carbs again but this just isn't true!! The first 2 weeks is the hardest because you don't eat carbs at all but after that you begin to intoduce carbs slowly! You should read the book......and another tip is to take daily vitimins, this will help with your energy levels!!! A year ago I was 2 stone overweight....I've been following the Atkins now for a year and I'm my ideal weight and feel great!!! But as someone else on here said....everybody is different so have a read of the book and see what you think!! Good luck!!

I lost 16 lbs in 11 days.
Then I quit.

But, I didn't stick to what i should have when slowly coming off the diet. So i put it all back on.
I dont blame atkins, I blame me.

So it worked. And I would highly recommend not doing it for over 2 weeks. Its not good enough for you to do longer.

My old tech crew all decided to get on Atkins one year and try and loose weight as a team.

Every person lost considerable weight, (I lost 33lbs) but not one of us could keep it off. The diet has you starving your body of Carbohydrates which if you ask any physician the body needs (Just not in excess)

Reguardless of which diet you try, my suggestion is to try and find one that you can stay on for life.

Also my suggestion would to talk to your family doctor before going on any of the "low carb" etc diets.

i did use this diet about 4 years ago after my daughter was born. i lost 25 pounds and rapidly.

but i soon found that keeping the weight off with this diet wasn't easy. you don't have much energy when on this diet and i quickly regained about 10 pounds.

i then switched to a reduced calorie (1000 calories per day) and low or no fat and it worked MUCH better. i lost the 10 pounds at a steady rate and have been able to keep it off for good.

I tried it for a bit and hated it! Its hard to keep going with caus you don't get all the nutrients you need. Plus your skin breaks out, spots everywhere. If you are gonna go on a similar diet, try the souhbeach diet. It really helps just two weeks on it!

it gives you bad breath and wind and as soon as you start to eat normally the weight goes back on.
no doctor will recommend you stop eating fruit and veg in favour of high fat foods and there is a reason for this.

you're better off eating healthy, low fat foods, doing plenty of exercise and losing weight over a longer period of time.

the atkins diet is a fad diet.

Yes, I'm on it now. It's GREAT! BUT... the most crucial time is the first TWO weeks. You HAVE to struggle through it without cheating..not ONE bit! Believe me, after that it DOES get alot easier. And you MUST do some form of excersize. I walk on the tredmill 30 min. a day, the weight just falls off...but, you must follow through! Good luck..!

Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. The way it works is just eat whatever tastes good and that will be healthy for you and non-fattening. That is why a baby tastes everything. So again whatever tastes good, is good for you. This is why you will spit out spoiled milk.

But wait!!! Man has the technology to create rat poison. It tastes like healthy food (good taste) but kills the rat. So man has done that to you. Note-- any food unaltered by man (uncooked) that tastes good, is good for you. So if you are stranded in the woods, that is how you know what to eat (cooking changes that). So man has created fake fruit. It tastes like fruit that exists in nature but it is terrrible for health, addictive and fattening called sweets.

So it is natural to like real sweets called fruit, like a baby does, but they have fooled you just like the rat. But they do not want to kill you. They want you to become obese so you will buy lots of their foods. This is called GOOD BUSINESS. Learn how to nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. See site below.

it works good and you will loose weight quickly but as soon as you start eating regularly you will gain it back. living without carbs is very difficult and you will prob not be able to stick to it indefinately. try South Beach it is much more balanced and i have been able to keep the weight off that i lost when i did the diet.
