i dont understand why people have to try and put down other peoples religous beliefs. i am LDS(mormon) and i am sick and tired of it. If you want to be christlike, then this is not the way to do it. mabey those who have nothing else better to do then tear down others beliefs, should rethink why they are doing this.

Because they have no faith, no hope, no trust, no love, no belief, no comfort, no happiness, no tolerance, no compassion, in their own!

I am Catholic and I hear the same thing every once in a while. I am convinced there are two reasons.

1) They do not know what they are talking about.

2) They purposely twist other's beliefs and then put down those beliefs.

Most religious, ethnic and political bashing fits into one, or both of these situations. The same people who make fun of Mormon's magic underwear also think that Catholics worship the Pope.

A lot has to do with the way that people present their religious views.

If more people present them as religious *views* then there would be fewer put-downs.

"I believe" is a good opener. It's not going to generate the kind of response that "This is the TRUTH" does.

Heck, even "I believe that this is the only truth" is better than what I read here most days, or what I hear when I open the door to someone who's visiting me to convince me that their way is the only way.

Do you understand what I"m saying?

I have to agree with you. It's all in the delivery, though. For the most part, if you are being respectful to others, as you are being here, they will be respectful to you in return. If you introduce yourself by an attack on people's beliefs, people will usually respond by trying to find fault with yours.
It's unfortunate these attitudes often prevent us from learning much from each other.

It's hard to hear others put anyone or anything down, especially religion. As long as satan's influence is around, people will always bash the church. He knows it's true, why do you think it is fought against so hard? Even he knows the plan but does not want us to return to our Heavenly Father...
Just have faith that you are doing what is right and try to be like our elder Brother, our Savior as much as you can.

Usually it is because of their own insecurities. They need to point out the flaws in others to avoid looking at the flaws in themselves.
Sometimes it is because they feel pressured by others trying to convert them or push their beliefs on them.
The other reason that I have seen is that the two beliefs are fundamentally incompatible .

ok...u must accept that the people are selfish by nature...they want others to believe in what they believed and do what they do, to obey them rather to against them in nature...so, what they do? they condemn people's religious and belief, this ain't right at all. the only thing u can do is to stay for what u r and who you are. all religious are good, only the human make it complicated and for the worst of it. so, learn to take things easier.

Manly because when you believe in a religion you believe all their tradtions strongly and it is natural in human nature then to believe that no other religions are right. So, as a result they become prejudice against other people from different religions, because they only believe in one religion and that is theres.

I never want to ''put down'' anyone's religion.

But! When these ''holier than thou'' Evangelical Christians start spouting off and damning other beliefs--I have to fight back.

It is mostly to do with ignorance. People condemn the LDS because they do not understand it. People condemn Muhammad because they've been fed half-truths and misconceptions by their pastors and evangelists. Atheists condemn Christianity and Islam because they have had bad experiences with people who have misused religion.
