When soldiers abuse prisoners or desecrate the Koran the world, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, lashes out at everything Western. When Saudi mutaween beat fifteen young girls to keep them inside a school where a fire is raging, then leave them to be trampled to death under the feet of 800 students, because they're not wearing headscarves and black robes...Silence.

And please don't tell me this isn't 'true' Islam because one, this isn't a discussion about Islam and two, this happened in MECCA...Islam Central.

Rain: I'm not "lashing out hatred." I don't hate anyone. I didn't say anything impolite or derogatory. "Ignorance" is a word Muslims like to use about anyone who criticizes Islam. What was ignorant or uneducated about my question? Is it or is it not true that 15 girls were kept inside a burning school and trampled to death in Mecca for not abiding by the Islamic dress code? Would the BBC lie? I think what I'm trying to do is expose ignorance on the side of Muslims by drawing attention to yet another double standard. Are you just saying anything to make me look bad?

YES, I will tell you this is not Islam because it is essential and for the simple fact that:

1. The mere occurrence of this incident, assuming it is true, in Saudi Arabia, and particularly in Mecca does not authenticate that the account, i.e., the way it happened, is Islamic.

2. What happened, as you described, makes me feel like throwing up. I have studies Islam, and in no way, there is anything in the Qur'an or Muhammad's traditions that supports or justifies such horrendous behavior.

3. Being Saudi Arabia the cradle of Islam does not make it the true representative of the religion. There are mounts and mounts of corruption in the kingdom, mainly with the royal family whom I consider a bunch of thugs and hypocrates.

4. Bear in mind not to judge any religion by the action of the followers of the religion, otherwise Christianity, generally speaking, will, then, be one of the worst; Islam is also included.

What are called MUTAWAEEN in the Kingdom are a bunch of Illiterate, stupid religious thugs. I had altercations with them, myself, when I was working in the Kingdom long time ago. One of them hit my wife with a stick while we were on our way walking to one of the superstores in Riyadh, because she was not wearing ABAYAH (cloak), though she was decently dressed and according to the Islamic laws. I have to admit that I was furious and I made his nose bleed, threatening him that this incident will be reported to each and every news paper in the world and I will make a mockery of him and the Kingdom. He cowed and did not pursue the issue. Would you believe me if I tell you that the people who wintnessed the incident, were laughing. Mutawaeen are not liked even by Saudis, because they are making Saudis' life a hell.

If you study the history of the Kingdom and how the Saudi family assumed power, you will find the following:

1. The founder of the family userbed power by conspiracy and shedding blood.

2. They entered an agreement with the religious sect from which the Mutawaeen came to being (Al-Wahhabeyyeen, lead by Muhammad Ben Abdul-Wahhab), that authority will be divided into two; religious affairs will be the concern of Ben Abdul-Wahhab's group, namely the Mutawaeen. The royal family and the Mutawaeen are, indeed, working together, controling the saud.

I had discussion with rather educated Mutawaeen regarding religious matter and I always beat them. They could not stand my reasoning because they were ignoramus. Nevertheless, there are very intelligent ones, but they are very few, and they do not agree with the current situation.

For your own information, the Kingdom is commonly not liked by people of other Middle Eastern countries, i.e. people, not rulers.

In light of the above, people in the Middle East are not silent as you think. You just do not hear of them, because they are supressed and only let go (be heared) whenever it suites the corrupt authories in the Middlle East.

I hope I have covered your question.

If as you say what happened in SA is true it is very wrong.
Anyone who calls Islam a barberic religion first needs to get himself\herself educated. Please don't display your ignorance by lashing out hatred about something you know nothing about.

When I spoke about your ignorance, I referred to your knowledge abt Islam and not the news item on BBC. You cannot blame the religion for the wrongdoings of a few, even if those unfotunate individuals happen to be in the holy city. They will have to pay for their sins, just as we all have to on the day of judgement

Its disgusting, isn't it.

I've read that news article before. They're sub-human and they're blind adherence to a vile, savage and primitive religion makes them less than animals.
