I had a teacher in school that really hit the nail on the head when we asked her that question and I still think she is true.
There is two people you can chose to be with. One who is exactly like you so you and that person can rediscover this world together. Then there is your opposite, a person you have to discover on your own.
I though a married a person who was the same as me, but everyday I discover something new. I personally like that more

Hi Pamela
At first I thought...dumb question, but having re read it, and a couple of the answers...not so dumb and my apologies
To answer your question....I think opposites may well attract, but when "choosing a partner" there has to be more, and there have to be common interests and tastes
good luck

Yes, I think that opposites attract physically but mentally they have to share some interests.
There is an interesting evolutionary theory which says, and I don’t quote, the reason for this is that we like to have offspring with less of our exaggerated physical attributes, so we choose partners with the opposite physical attribute.

Well, im a firm believer that you must have at least one thing in common with a person to be able to have conversations that last longer than 2 minutes. I dont mean that you have to have everything in common, it just helps if there is one or two things.

i've a sneaky feeling its true that opposites attract.... it makes life interesting and challenging, and probably counteracts the biggest killer of all relationships which is complacency...
the most attractive people are those you keep find out new things about, they constantly keep you thinking and intrigue you... everybody wants to find somebody who'll they'll still spark off when they're 64...
then it all comes down to a question of compatibility...

opposites attract yes..but if your looking for a long term relationship then you have to have commom interests likes and dislikes or there will be huge difference of opinion..
you may want to do something and your partner something else
so stick to your type
