Diesel or Gasoline has way more negative effects on nature than environment.

automobiles could operate electrically or preferrably on hydrogen.

Automobiles do need to operate, but they don't need to pollute by burning hydrocarbons, some people are deathly allergic to the components of the emmisions.

Rudolph Diesel saw the problems of burning fossle fuels and invented his engine to run on hemp seed and peanut oil. It might have been a biological solution to compete with hydrocarbons but alas Rudolph Diesel mysteriously dissappeared while crossing the english channel never to be heard from again.

His engine worked on boyles principle such a concept it could run on seed oil.

His engine could also be used to burn the crudest of the rock oils and the next thing you know after he was gone the oil companies named the crudest of the fuels after him.

Ironic isn't it, his environmentally motivated inspiration used for environmental destruction.

rest in peace rudy

Diesel is twice as efficient as gasoline so to do the same amount of wor it would tae 1/2 as much. The pollution question is another question. Diesel is thought to be more polluting because if an engine is not tuned well you can see black soot, unburned carbon. Gasoline engines are 12% efficient. That maes 88% of partially burned hydrocarbons that you can not see but they cause smog. Both come from crude oil so we still have tankers and wells and pipelines and spills.

Technically diesel is worse for the environment due to the impurities present that result in incomplete combustion. Gasoline has a certain amount of incomplete combustion but at lower levels than diesel, making it "greener", a term spawned by the satan worshiping, infant devouring demons at Greenpeace.

depending if you're talking to an environmental nuts..gasoline has less emissions than your ordinary diesel. Now that being said both come from oil...I can't remember the study done but according to measurements done the oil seeps on the ocean floor releases about a oil tanker's worth of oil every day on the ocean floor...naturally...and much of it is dissolved quickly (naturally yet again thanks to some bacteria or other..)

They will all produce the same amount of CO2 for the same horsepower. Doesn"t represent a problem because all the green plants will take care of u. The CO2 accelerates plant growth so it is a constant variable. If the plants of one type get behind a little the ones in the water will compensate. Study plants and photosynthesis.
