Today our kittens will be 5 days old, and from day 1 they have been in a plastic dog crate with the top off so it's just like a large box, there is a small pillow on the bottom covered with a towel I change every day.

This morning I got up at 6, and DH was home from work sitting on the couch, next to him on my electric blanket I keep on the couch, were all the kittens, I asked him if he was hanging out with them, he said " No, when I got home they were all here, I thought you put them here and forgot them, So I put them back in the box, went to the kitchen for a drink and Coco (momma cat) brought them all back.

Hm I sat with him and after a while, I decided to put them back in the box, Coco was out of the room, she came right back and picked one up and brought it back on the couch, and went to get the rest, I just got them for her, and she just lied there with them.

At 6:30 my kids got up, and DH went to bed, I told them about what Coco was doing, Kittens were still on the couch, now the kids put them in the box, as soon as the last one was in the box, Coco took one and put it back on the couch!

So now it's 7 am and I have 6 kittens on my couch, anyone have any idea why she she keeps bringing them up there?

No the electric bank isn't on, I am 7 months pregnant and know it's not safe for me to use, I just use it at night to snuggle when I watch tv.

The box isn't a high box, it's also large, I change the towel every day, and it's in our living room with us.

OK I have changed the towel, put the top on the crate and draped a towel over the top, not blocking the door, I put the kittens back in there and her also, she's in there with them now, hope this works.

As much as I like them I don't want them on my couch.

Sometimes a mother cat will move her kittens if she feels that they need a safer or more comfortable spot. The heating pad on the couch must have seemed like a great idea for Coco's babies or she would not have put them there. Because they are now in a more common place, she may move them again if the area gets too hectic or busy for her. Coco obviously feels that she and the kittens are safe around you or she would have hidden the little ones from you. Sounds like Coco is doing a good job as a mommy. Good luck with the kittens.

Ha ha yes this is completely normal. My cat had several litters of kittens where she moved them every so often around the farm, every time we found them she'd move them again. Cat's nature is to move their kittens every so often to keep them safe... eventually we caged the cat whilst pregnant and were able to successfully re home a whopping 10 kittens after she adopted another 3 that had been abandoned by a feral cat.

Coco is looking for a safer place for her babies. The box must be in a high traffic area and she doesn't feel it's safe. Try moving the box to a room where you spend a lot of time like the living room or the kitchen, but make sure it's off to one side and not near the flow of traffic. You might have to move it a couple of times to get her to leave them there. You might also try putting an article of your clothing in the box. It could also be that she is looking for something with your smell on it, like your electric blanket. Good luck. I this doesn't work try moving them to a closet or pantry.

The mother will move the kittens wherever she feels it's safe for them. It's a natural instinct to do this. Changing locations of the litter helps to keep the brood safe from predation. She will keep doing this as the kitten grow. If you want her to move the kittens to the box again, change the bedding to reduce the natural odor and move it to another warm, secluded spot in the house.

Is the electric blanket on? Cats love heaters. Ours lounge around our radiant heater all the time. All those kittens out there..lol. Well at least momma cat trust you all, which is very cool.

coco might think that this keeps her kittens safe and they aren't trapped inside the box. the electric blanket might also be seen as something that keeps them warm!

Please get your female spayed. They are killing cats/kittens everyday because there is not enough homes for them.
Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.

STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

She's really comfy there, and that's where she wants to have her den! Try to make them as comfortable as possible. And think of your couch as a new nursery :)
