So, how old is your dog? If she is a puppy, she probably needs her crate brought into your bedroom at night. A puppy will whine and carry on when alone because nature designed them that way... they whine because they need their mom/ pack.
If she is already in your room, then I am guessing that she needs to go to the bathroom or some outside noises are disturbing her. Leave the radio on in your room, if you can.Soft music only. (I have msn radio going on a specific genre for my puppy)
If you have the dog tied up outside, well, you already know what I think of that! But it does not sound like it because you sid whine and not bark.Bring her in at night, crate train her. Leave the radio on so the night noises are muffled.

I think if she is only loud at night, chances are she is uncomfortable and maybe lonely. Maybe you can put her closer to you, see that she is warm enough and has access to water. Maybe she can hear sirens or something?? (a lot of dogs go mental if they hear sirens of any kind, police, ambulance etc) remember we can't always hear what they do.
I think she is just lonely, so just put her close to you if you can. Try to work out what time it is that she is whining. She might need to be let out to go to the toilet.
I agree, you have been getting some stupid answers here, (not your fault I know)
I wish you good luck.

How old is she? Where does she sleep?
She could just be lonely. If you crate her at night, you might want to try moving her crate into your bedroom. I had to do that with my dog and he settled right down...just wanted to know that he wasn't alone.
If you do that and it continues (but give it some time) then I would definetly take him to the vet to be checked out.

some of the answer you are getting are just stupid. if she is not sleeping in a crate at night you should get her one. you did not say how old she is. if need to help her sleep through the nite try leaving a radio on low at night in the same room she is in. she sounds like she is just try to get you attention because it is to quiet where you have her right now.

She might be scared or lonely during the night. let her sleep in the room with you and see if that helps.
