I read in the paper today about a dog that was part "doxen". Now, I know what a Dachshund is, but I've never heard of a Doxen.

It's shelters and rescuer's abbreviation for a dachshund. Sometimes it's written as "doxie" too. The term is usually not in public use, just for internal communication, but I see it creeping into general use lately.

Doxen means Dachshund. It's what most people call a
"weiner" dog or a "hot" dog.

A "doxen," more correctly spelled 'daschund' is a type of dog. Have you ever seen a weiner dog or a hot dog dog? That's what it is. The people probably were just trying to save money by using fewer letters.

They probably meant Dachshund. but some people do call them Doxies, just for short.

Doxen is referring to the half born animal with maybe 2,3 or 1 legs. This can also mean that the animal is born with twin joined together sharing the same body or even legs.
