The story:
I had some bits of my hair dyed a dark purply colour about 6 months ago. Since then it has faded to a nasty orange. I went to my usual hairdresser on friday evening to have my highlights done and asked her if there was a way of getting rid of the orangey bits.. She said she could bleach them with the rest of my hair, but they would go honey rather than platinum. Instead of my usual fine higlights, fo some reason she put bleach on all of my hair in big chunks and turned it a yellowy colour. The bits that were orange are now salmon pink and you can see lines all through my hair where she put the foils. I could have done a better job myself.
Anyway, my hair is fuzzy and dry due to the bleaching and I don't want any more bleach. I have used 3 loads of ash toner to make it look less yellow but it still looks awful.
I think the best thing to do is go brown (my natural colour is a dark blonde) what should I do?

The salon I went to has an excellent reputation and it cost me £75 for the colour alone.
The girl who did it is the second most expensive hair designer in the salon.

Go back to the salon, wearing a hat, ask to speak to the manager and put in a formal complaint saying that you are ashamed to been seen outside as this girl has ruined your hair and you did not ask for what she has done. If they try to talk their way out of it, say that you will be speaking to your solicitor and the local press, this should put the frightners on them enough to give you a decent colour and cut by a different stylist at no cost to yourself.

Be sure to wear a hat or cover your head before going into the salon.
Good Luck

Ok before you do anything if you dye your hair back to brown know chances are your hair will go a merky green color unless you fill it with a red semi a true semi, either a moose pack or single pack color that should only say it'll last 6-8 washes and then dye it brown.

Remember if you choose to go back to blonde anytime soon bofore all that old hair grows out it'll almost take you a year to get it back to that ashey blond and thats if your hair is half healthy.

Or else if the hairdresser your seeing is really bad, go pay some good money from a really good hairdresser, have a consultation with them and they should recommend a form of action plan which might take a few visits to get your hair where you want it but at least you'll feel good because now you look the way you like seeing yourself.

And buy some good shampoo and conditioner and a treatment that your hairdresser recommends to you and if you can't afford it buy them one by one week by week.

Also if you do go dark again your color will still fade and you will redo it over and over again till you get a color build up and you'll never be able to go lighter for a long time.

Sorry for the bad news but welcome to my world. Good luck

Hello there, I'm a hairdresser/salon owner, sorry to read your story, My advice would be to return to the salon and complain, telling them you either want your money back, or they correct the errors... if your a bit nervous about the condition of you hair i recommend that you use a good quality semi permanent colour a darker shade than your own natural colour.. try to avoid anything containing reds.. go for a nice mocha brown.. semi permanent are far less damaging for your hair so you can repeat the procedure every 6 weeks... have a trim every six weeks just to get rid of the dry ands and older colour...

I wouldn't go back to that salon. I too would dye my hair brown and once that has grown out, do what you want with it. A lot of bleaching and dying can damage your hair and cause it to be dry. Try frizz ease. That should help with the fuzziness of your hair. You could also try any kind of leave in conditioner. If you dye your hair or bleach it before a certain amount of time, usually three months, you can really damage your hair bad. Just go dark until that mess that the salon caused, grows out.

Hi

I would of said go back to your salon and get them to correct it or refund your money, being your not happy with the out come, But if I read right. you stated that you added ash to you hair yourself, so it would be down to you as a fault, never tamper with your hair after leaving a salon, if not happy, dont leave the salon till they correct it,
if they cant or wont correct it, refuse to pay and go to another salon that can help you.
If you go back to your base colour your hair will more than likely need to be pre-pigged, this will need to be done in professional hands, and can be costly but worth it in the end, if you dont and you put your base colour on bleach hair, your hair will go green. sounds like you need to have a deep penetrating conditioner treatment done as well. Get a CONSULTATION before proceding.

Good luck

I would do my own hair, i would colour it brown either light or dark and then leave it to grow out , have it styled and stick with my own colour hair. Hairdressers are overated, some are, i went to a hairdresser last week and had my hair styled, she did a good job, she asked me who did my hair and who coloured it because they did not do a very good job, i told her you did my hair. Poor girl went bright red and kept quiet for the rest of the cut. Now i colour my own hair and i am happy with it as it is and i get compliments as well. I will never ever go blond again .:))) Good luck to you and dont depair, hair grow out , thank goodness hey.:)

Find a stylist that specializes in color correction. He/she should be able to help you. If you don't know of any or can't find any in the yellow pages try looking up the Redken website and see if they can refer you to a color specialist.

Demand your money back from the stylist that did a bad job and use that money to get you correction done.

Good Luck

Go back, and ask her to make your hair brown at no charge, since they messed it up. Then leave your hair alone for 6 months to let it mend. You are ruining it with so much coloring.

Yes...go back to the salon and explain what happened, also explain that due to it being their fault you are not paying. Personally I would want to work with you as opposed to not working with you bc their reputation can be put on the line and they would lose you and other vaulable customers.
