I recently got into selling food supplements and this has got me wondering. Do you use/have you used any food supplements, if so which kind and what do you hope to achieve by them. If not why are you opposed.
(this is not advertising just a question)

For those of you who think that eating 'a healthy diet' provides everything for your body and you don't need supplements, then why are you health food fanatics are always bunged up with the latest flu virus? Food today does not contain nowhere near as much nutrients as they used to before mass production began. You can eat your nutritionally zero tomatoes to your heart's content but you won't get enough vitamins and the likes out of it. It is a good idea to take supplements sometimes. If you are a woman, then you need certain type of supplements such as iron. Some people don't like the idea of taking Aspirin to thin their blood, so for them the idea of garlic capsules is an excellent one (garlic is a powerful blood thinner).

Absolutely. There are things missing from mass produced foods. And cooking takes a lot of the nutrition out. If it weren't for supplements, I'd probably be having to inject insulin for my diabetes.

I don't HOPE to achieve, I DO achieve a lot of benefits from supplements. I'd probably still be depressed if it weren't for fish oil and 5-HTP. Then there's the malic acid for fibromyalgia. I could go on and on.

I take them because I know my diet is not as good as it should be, and that food doesn't contain what it did when we first evolved (organic veg probably does but its so expensive for everyday - I say that simply because soil is depleted and over use of fertilisers has killed off micronutrients from the soil). So I take, AHA and DMAE for my skin, evening primrose oil and omega 3 and a mineral supplement because of what I just mentioned.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/MHtYq

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

I don't take them because I try to eat balanced meals and snacks instead. I believe all minerals and nutrients should come from eating normally - if you feel you need supplements, then you are not eating properly. My grandmother lived to 94 and she had never taken a supplement in her life. She ate very healthily. Still, the industry is making a fortune from people too lazy to look after themselves and think popping a few pills is the antedote to all their dietary needs. I think its dangerous.

I agree, SD is not the greatest of foods. Know that the more you spend, the better the ingredients, the more dense it is with more nutritional value in lesser amounts. Follow the links given earlier and research dog foods. You will be surprised! SD (and no, not beneful, either!) even make the top ten list!!
