I like your take on it. I think you're wrong to say that "you don't know one way or the other", unless you'd say that also about the existence of lime-green flying elephants and pink unicorns, but your attitude is good, and I'm happy to co-exist with people willing to say what you've said here.
I guess there's an underlying irony to my becoming an atheist. I was a Boy Scout who had basic values - including honesty - hammered into me as a kid by religious people. The honesty part backfired on them: honesty clearly dictates atheism. I became an atheist because belief in God is inherently dishonest.

I am agnostic, not because I don't 'care' about the afterlife.
Agnostics say that we don't know what is in the afterlife BUT more importantly, that no one *can* know!
If you are atheist or a 'believer', then you claim that you know, when in fact you only *believe*.
I think that agnosticism is the only intelligent answer.
And since I can't know for sure what is in the afterlife, I won't worry about it.

I was braught up a Christian and am lucky enough to be attending a Christian collage that teaches us to think for ourselfs (but apparently not to spell). I was never really a strong christian but after a subscriptian to the "New Scientist" magazine and reading Richard Dawkings "The God Delusion" i quickly realised the fults in religion.

i was like 4 or 5 so i don't know. maybe people subconciously led me that way, or my parents in their attempt to not influence such an important and personal decision wound up influencing me anyway.
funny, that's like a little microcosm of the real world; since there is no evidence for god, all of us thinking types end up not believing in one.

I've always known that there was no god, and I really resented having to be dragged to church as a kid when I didn't believe. That and a bunch of Jesus Freaks once beat me into a coma for not accepting Jesus. I guess you can say I have a bias.

I'm an atheist because I don't believe any of the thousands of gods exist. I would never be a Christian, even if God existed, because I've read the entire Bible multiple times, and it's way beneath my moral standards.

Yes I know your feelings. That is why I try to tell people about Christ and what he has done for me. If they ask and want to hear about Him I will tell them, BUT I will not force myself or God on anyone, as it does no good to. The choice is up to the individual, and them alone to accept Him of reject Him. Just living right will not be enough to enter heaven and dwell with Christ for eternity with His Love and care that ONLY He can give. If you would care to learn more let me know. If not, thats OK too. Its up to you my dear, just trying to help.
