Some time ago, I met this woman at my work. She was the whole package:hot, intelligent, hard working, and always full of fun stories.
Not too long ago, she and I went to a convention. She and I had a rough day but we managed to survive. We had several drinks afterwards and talked about it while walking down the boardwalk. I then put my arm around her shoulder and she reciprocated. I gave her some other hints that I like her.
After we returned, I would ask if she wants to hang out, but she would turn it down saying she was too busy. She also didn't send the typical vibes of interest. Also, she recently quit the company.
Perhaps that special night was a fluke or a very lucid dream.

My question is how to deal with the rejection. Im older but it doesnt get easier. I know there are other waves in the ocean but my mind is racing thinking about the possibilities of a happy ending. Im worried that it will affect my work performance. But just typing this seems to help. Thanks.

You do not want to hear this but there may be a lesson that you must learn, as hard as it is. I had a lot of boyfriends in my lifetime. Some I broke up and some who broke up with me; my husband was one who broke up with me over twenty-five years ago and it was so hard for me to go through breakup-ups. One day I realized that it was not meant for me to have a boyfriend nor husband. Now that I have accepted that fact, I am so content. If you go through life seeking something you may never find, how can you find what you do have?

Um. Well rejection from a woman isnt a rejection unless she says so. Seems like you just "Gave hints" and vibes. Why not be A MAN and ask her out formally ie. to a nice dinner, or a theatrical performance and be more confident. Women like confidence and to a certain degree they like to be chased and romanced. Where was the romance? Asking her to "hang out" is so immature who wouldnt turn that down. She is not or doesnt want to be your "buddy". I say, go to the bookstore, read up on seduction and learn how to approach a woman and even if it doesnt work out this time you will be confidently prepared for a next time.

Has it occurred to you she might have been involved? By the sounds of it she liked you but was attached.
