I love my boyfriend, and he loves me (i know that) but he doesn't pay much attention to me. We been dating almost a year now, and i dont nag him, or hound him, but i do let him know when i'm unhappy, sometimes he listens and tries to be good for like 2weeks and then he slips back to old manners. He recently got transfered to Scotland, and i'm in london, i dont see him often and when he comes down for the weekend, he spends it all with his family...he seems to pay more attention to his work and family than me...i dont know what to do?..am i being unreasonable? should i accept it as part of him, or leave him?

"am i being unreasonable? should i accept it as part of him, or leave him?" I say neither... one of the differences between men and women is that men speak things directly while women talk more in allusions.
If let's say, u want him to buy you a rose and you say "Roses are such beautiful flowers" when you pass by a flower shop with him, he might simply understand you just like roses, not necessarily that you want him to buy you one at that moment (maybe he would remember that for a special occasion).
It is normal for him to miss his family, he can't be blamed for that. You could tell him in a non-accusative way that you miss him very much and would like to spend more time with him, tell him you understand that he misses his family, but that you also miss him and feel lonely without him and ask him to spend more time with you (or/and spend some time with him and his family too)

"but i do let him know when i'm unhappy, sometimes he listens and tries to be good for like 2weeks and then he slips back to old manners" it is very hard for people to change, but he is trying to change for you and that means he cares

This is just an opinion, I don't know all the circumstances, it is up to you to decide what you do. Good luck

Its incoded in mens genes not to pay attention to women for very long times. Men usually take the improtant stuff and mute out the other stuff. My advice would be to do thing that get his attention. walk around naked or talk to him about something he likes like sprots or something then as you guys talk slip some of your questions in on him. i all else fails talk to him during the comercials the best time cuz then he cant say im watching the game. that will give you at leats a good 4 minutes or less.

just carry on with your life as normal - let him take the initiative to make an effort - if he doesn't, the relationship will probably just fade out - if you just carry on with your life, he'll soon realise there is the possibility of losing you and hopefully clean up his act and come running back. if he's not too concerned, then it probably was not meant to be. just carry on carrying on with your life - don't run after him. you don't want to appear desperate. let him know that you are happy with who you are and that you are strong enough to not have to depend on his affections. there are plenty of guys out there who love giving attention to their gf's. one could be waiting for you - just around the corner. don't close your eyes to new love... good luck :)

Arrange a weekend away, just the two of you. If he doesn't pay you any attention (when there's no DISTRACTIONS, such as his family), then you've a big problem.

Otherwise, that's weekend-only relationships, I'm afraid...
