Hey man I'm 36, and it happens to me too...you only have a few options:
1. Be angry and isolate your family, which will prove their point and hurt you more.
2. Let it go, which will let your family keep doing what they're doing (and it will still kind of suck) but you'll be in control.
My wife doesn't get this, and I have a great family...except for this part...so I just say "oh well it's just my family."
My parents treat my daughter golden though, my sister has four boys, so Aly is the only girl and that might be it too but I don't think so because they're all over my nephews.

I'm 39 & my sister is 32. She as you say is the Golden Child of our family.
There isn't anything you can do to change this,
You just accept it, ignore it and go on with your life.
Going through this just makes us better parents to our own children.
Our parents come from a different era, They don't realize the damage their actions inflict on their children.

There really isn't much that you can do except make yourself the bigger person and accept it; let them know how you feel about how you're treated; just let it go and as time goes on.... see what happens !!! I wish you better luck than I had !!!
My parents still play favorites as well. My sis and her son are the favorites. As far as me... I've taken away their grandchild. It doesn't bother them either because I've not heard from them in months! It shows how much they really care.. right !!

Been there and own the t-shirt. All I can say is that when you get into the mid-30s, it just isn't going to bother you in the same way. You can't change your parents; you can only change yourself. Just know your own worth and try to let things go.

I pretty much doubt parents wil change.... but you can try telling them how do you really feel about it...trudt me this will take a lot of time and dedication if you want to change the situation... talk to them about it and not just once...
My advice, just try not to do the same with your own children.

Don't speak to them regarding this. After a certain time it will fade away from your mind and will create and haunt as joke. Try to over come silently.
