The best thing for your cats is to take them with you. If you can't then contact your local vets for most will board them for you. Either way it will be very stressful for them so I would suggest buying some Feliway to reduce the stress and make it easier.
When you get them to your new place put them in one room till they are settled and then let them explore the rest of the house.

Please take your cats with you! I know of someone who moved across the country with several cats, in a little two door car. If you care about them, you will find a way!
It's darn near impossible to find homes for adult cats. If you brought them to a shelter, they'd be euthanized within a week. Most no-kill shelters are already full to the brim, and it's very hard to find an individual willing to adopt adult cats when there are so many cute (and free) kittens needing homes.

You might try talking with a friend about letting you keep a few cats at her place until you finish the move. But then, you have to figure out how to get them to your new house, and shipping cats is expensive (especially seven). I've haven't had any good experiences with people who leave their pets with a friend and promise to send for them. Most of the time, they realize they can't afford it, and just abandon the animal with the friend, who will most likely take it to a shelter.

Moving with cats is difficult, but not impossible. I travelled across the entire United States with my cat in my lap, because I refused to give her away. She was anxious at first (and every morning when we started to drive) but would quickly settle down and go to sleep. She refused to use the litter box in the car, and would wait until we stopped for the night. There's all kinds of advice on the internet about travelling with cats. The truth is; if these cats really are your babies, you will take them with you.

Hope this helps...

I am not quite clear whether you can't take your cats at all or just can't have them with you till you are settled in a new home. If you just need a temporary home for them then boarding them for a short time would be the best option. Of course it won't be cheap with 7 of them but they are your family right? You could ask your vet or local animal shelter to recommend something. Animal shelters will sometimes board pets for a fee. You could board them in your old town and send for them or take them to the new one and board them there where you can visit. I did this with my cat when we moved interstate and my sister did with her 4 cats.If money is not an object (lucky you) there are even pet transport companies who will do it all for you. If not enlist friends or relatives to help out.

Why do you have to put them somewhere? Take them with you, simple as that...What you could also do is, move them in first if that is possible... leave cat boxes and enough food and water for a couple of day, let thim get use to the new home first...

I won't tell you how many cats I have, and my cats move with me...

Take them with you before you even get settled, and don't let them out, While moving stuff into your new place, put them into a room and shut the door until you are able to close the house door.

I'm not sure there is muchc advise anyone can give. You have to move and you can't take your cats. I would be devistated if I couldn't take my 3. But it is what it is, and the best you can do is find them good homes or hope a rescue organization can.

I can't believe you would even consider leaving them behind!! What are they supposed to do - get jobs so they can buy groceries and pay the rent?? If you can't take them with, and can't find homes, then either take them to the animal shelter, or have them put down. Sounds cold, but what are your options? It's kinder than leaving them behind!!
