Peace!
Outward sacrifice, to be genuine, must be the expression of spiritual sacrifice: "The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit..." (Psalm 51,17).The prophets of the Old Covenant often denounced sacrifices that were not from the heart or not coupled with love of neighbor. Jesus recalls the words of the prophet Hosea: "I desire mercy, and not sacrifice (Hosea 6,6).
The only perfect sacrifice is the one that Christ offered on the cross as a total offering to the Father's love and for our salvation (Hebrews 9, 13-14). By uniting ourselves with this sacrifice we can make our lives a sacrifice to God.

It's not a single god who wants sacrifice, it's all the gods who step into the pulpit and tell you if you don't put cash in the collection box you are going to hell because you are robbing god of his tithes.
I ain't never heard this out of the mouth of the big GOD we don't see, I hear it from the mouth of the little god we see at the alter.
(I wonder which god does the minister/preacher/little god give his sacrifice to).
Most religions perform these silly but profitable rituals to satisfy the needs of the scamming minister/preacher/god etc. so he and his family can have a nice house, car and other possessions then talk down to their 'flock' on Sundays.

Most religions DON'T perform sacrifice rituals.
The Biblical God demands animal and human (virgin) sacrifices - something that ignorant Christians and others incorrectly accuse Satanists of doing.

Sacrifice, in ancient Judaism, enforced a moral lesson. The useful parts of the sacrifices went to the tribe of Levi (which was forbidden to own land), and the rest was burnt on the alter to God. This taught that the opposite of sin was duty to God and man.

well, i recal that there used to be "animal sacrifices" to God...other religions actually sacrificed both animals and Gods (ones that believed in more than on God)...but sacrifices are things like fasting (only eat after sun-down, giving up something you love to spend time w/God, ect)

“Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,” says Jesus...
Apparently, you failed to read the New Testament (and this was also said by Hosea in the Old Testament).
