There is no one person who is to be blamed for the rise of religious hartred. We as humans seem to have an inbuilt fear is peoples who are differant. We have to get over that problem and try to learn about each others faith and try to understand where they are coming from. At the same time peoples from other belief systems have to also learn to accept that we are differant to them. In other worlds we have to work together hand in hand.
you ask how the British Way of Life is changing? Well try this: Britian is supposed to a Christian Country, and yet we have Christian Schools, which are now not allowed to teach the Christian Faith,or have Christian Services in the school, due to the fact that it is Pollitically Incorrect and can ofend other faiths.
There are now also places in the UK where in the past Christian Open Air Services used to be allowed to take place, but now they are not due to the local council banning them (this is occuring in West London) it as the council is being run by people of other faiths and do not want these services to take place.
Personally I did not support the War that has taken place out in Iraq. I think that the US just used Saddam & Al kieda as an excuss for the US to get access at the oil. If you look at other countries which have had dictators, but no oil have you seen the US invade them...The answer is NO.
The US sould learn to live by example, they call themselves a Christian Country, then they should live by the Christian Rule: Do unto others as you would expect other to do to you!
Unfortantly it all boils dowm back to the fact that we are just human and not perfect.

What saddens me is the way you ask a question about religious intolerance, in a way that shows your racial intolerance.
"the welcoming brtitish" to direct quote you, are not going down the intolerance pathway.
The reason a lot of UK residents are becoming upset is because if a muslim doesn't get their own way, it is because of their religion.
There are people of all races and religions in the UK. ALL of them at some point suffer intolerance.
What do they do? They get on with things and the remarks whether its major or minor, go away.
What do SOME of the muslims do? Scream and shout that they are being persecuted. Persecuted? They really have no idea about persecution.
I have no family beyond my father. ALL the rest, the nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles were killed by a bit of a nutcase whose name escapes me for the moment.
Oh, yes.... it was Hitler.
People are not afraid of different religions, they are angry when those believers force their opinions down the throats of everybody.
Muslims are the victims of hate crimes because they have decided that 'the west' or 'the british' or 'the americans' are to blame for every bad thing that has happened to them.
If you react to things that have happened with racism, public opinion will be against you.
The suicide bombers that have struck around the world have been condemned as the 'extreme' part of the religion. Muslims in general have supported/not supported the way the bombers decided to handle things.
Certain members say that WE (the non muslims) deserve all we get and should have our children killed, our families torn apart.
I believe that Religion should be banned throughout the world. There is one that actually sticks to what it believes which is Zen Buddhism, one of the beliefs is that life is sacred. The monks following it do not kill anything!
Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Jew, it doesn't matter which you are. You are ALL willing to kill the other Beliefs.
THOU SHALT NOT KILL!! (unless you really want to?)
Stop Religion, Stop religious hatred.
*edit*
If you wish to have someone to blame, take a look at the muslim clerics preaching of terrorism to the stupid and easily led.
The faith itself DOESN'T advocate killing others not of the same faith, BUT the words become twisted to fit the circumstances.
If ALL british are intolerant, then ALL muslims are terrorists.
If ALL targets from an attack are 'Just' because of the faith backing it.
Then it follows that ALL incidents of race hatred are decreed by the god of your choice and in that case is also 'Just'!
God is all-powerful, All-seeing and an Omnipotent deity. If He wants you to suffer then He'll make you suffer.
The muslim God is different to (as an example) the Christian God, There is only one God so..... EITHER the muslims are reacting to something that their God has decreed by killing innocents (there is only one God so He controls EVERYTHING and everything that happens to you, SHOULD happen to you!). Or the other god is doing the same thing.
If there is a God that wants me to kill and persecute others for the things they believe. HE CAN F*CK OFF AND DIE!

Look at the facts.
Christians, Jehovah's witnesses, Mormons, Catholics etc etc all piss me off sometimes because many of them are arrogant and deluded enough to presume their religion is right and everyone else is wrong. They are often, (not always) but often intolerant of other people's beliefs but that is a relatively minor thing because their intolerance normally only goes as far as being a pain in the a.rse by preaching and bible bashing to people who would like to be left alone. This kind of conduct is selfish and inconsiderate but reasonably harmless.
The Muslims on the other hand, not all of them but a significant minority are totally intolerant to the degree that they believe it is perfectly acceptable to murder anyone who does not believe in their filthy perverted doctrine. There is a Muslim plot being orchestrated right now in this country (UK) and other western countries to take political control of our countries and to convert all of us to Islam and to introduce Sharia law. Many of these people will seek to murder those of us who would oppose them. They want to introduce the most despicable forms of female suppression and abuse and they want to introduce widespread mutilation and torture as a means of religious control.
Before anyone says this will not happen the process has already started. The are lots of schools in Pakistan where this perverted doctrine is being taught and brainwashed to thousands of impressionable children. In Mosques in this country people are being encouraged to infiltrate our society and pave the way for the new British Islamic state, and the whole plot is being financed from Saudi Arabia. It is a very very real threat to our way of life and for many individuals our very existence.
If these Muslim extremists get their way and they are making some progress already, then this country will be worse for us than it would have been had Hitler won the second world war.
Now what are we doing about it? We are being tolerant to the extremists, and taking a blinkered approach to the dangers that the Muslim extremist minority pose. The politically correct morons are the ones who are the most tolerant of the people who seek to create the extreme threats which we all face, it is the politically correct morons therefore, who are to blame for religious hatred because they are allowing and encouraging it to grow. They are traitors and further more they are very stupid and ignorant traitors who pose just as much of a threat to civilised society as do the Muslim extremists.

Religion is not the root of evil. Religion is not the cause of hatred either. Look at racism - is there religion in that? Look at the wars that happened in the past - is there religion in that as well? Hatred is in the world just because people themselves are evil.
There is no way i'm going to like the Muslim religion because it's just not a religion for me, they are into killing and so on but that does not mean religion is being blamed. I think people just blame religion because they really don't know who or what to blame.
We are not afraid of different religions, we just don't agree with what goes against our morals and principles and if my principle is to not kill and I see other religions that they bomb themselves then there is no way I will like that particular religion.

I put the blame on those who will not assimilate in the slightest. There is little in the way of hatred aimed at Sikhs or Hindus for example. Being essentially a Liberal I wish it were otherwise I really do.
Edit:
How is the British way of life changing? Well chalk up the religious hatred bill which restricts freedom of speech, the calls for Sharia law to be implemented, the de facto segregation of schools by religion, the creation of urban ghettos with little migration outwards unlike every other wave of migration in Britains history...

Don't blame the 'British', it is a normal reaction to fundamentalist extremist Islamic terrorism.
You can test yourself ...
Imagine that you are on a 'tube' train in London and an obvious 'arab' type (you know what I mean) gets on with a bulky backpack and a suspicious look about him.
The doors are still open.
Do you get off and run or do you assume that he is a foreign student on his way to school and totally innocent?
I know what I would do.
I know that it is stereotyping and may well be unjustified and even termed extreme racist behaviour BUT I still know what I would do.
So, who is to blame? Terrorists. Not muslims as such but terrorists per se. Muslim terrorists? Yes.

Propaganda. The military-industrial complex needs a common enemy. In a society where it is unpatriotic to disagree with the current administration, where ideology has replaced the humanities in schools, where we are governed by an entrenched oligarchy who cannot be unseated, where a handful of corporate elites fill our waking hours with a constant barrage of distractions, and where the majority of the population is fed a steady diet of prescription psychotropic drugs, it is not surprising that people are willing to demonize an otherwise peaceful and enlightened religion.
