Hep C is transmitted through blood to blood. I'm assuming in UK the dentists use autoclaves to sterilize instruments like they do here in the US. However, if the sterilization process was skipped, then the risk of tranmission is increased. It is also possible to transmit Hep C through tattoos, drug use, blood transfusion prior to when they began testing the blood supply (1992 in the US), MSM, etc. In the US, the incidence rate is about 2% of the population; I'm not sure what the rate is in England. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you.

Go back to the basics, Hep C is a blood transmitted disease , means blood to blood. Sanitary or sex is not the issue. It could be generic ( your vaccination, drug use or blood transfusions before 1992).

Dental procedure will require all infection control procedures ( gloves, masks, sterile instruments). With a surgical the only problem could be a blood transfusion.
