I think it's kind of funny that you say that "all civilized countries are giving up on religion" when america seems to be getting more and more religious all of the time.
I'm not saying that your statement is false. I think it's spot on.
Which makes it funnier.

I blame television.
Every generation tends to rebel against the previous generation and stretch the boundaries a little further to show their independance - it's like a right of passage. Television, to hold our interest, shows everything in the extreme. Young people grow up watching tv and see this as the norm. When it is time to rebel aginst the old ways and make their own world, they are basing it on what they have already seen : the extremism of television. There are no new places to see, no new adventures to take, nothing left to discover, we've seen it all on TV.
Too late now, we've opened pandora's box, we will just have to find a way to cope. If History repeats, as it tends to do, one of two things will happen: there will be an upsurge in fundamentalism in all religions and all governments and the moral pendulum will swing back(too far) to conservatism; or we will end up like the Roman Empire, wallowing in our own filth and a downslide into complete ruin.

Civilized countries are not giving up on religion at all.
The number of people who question religious beliefs are growing at the same time as religious fanatics are growing and others are standing fast to organized religion.
All three groups have become more visible at the same time - as people make their way in and out of each.
But all it means is that when things go bad everyone talks about God.

Probably because there is so much information and people can draw from different religions and philosophies to form their own conclusions. Perhaps in olden times there was less information available to the masses and of course less education. Only a few could write for instance. My answer is that there is a fair amount of knowledge to be gleaned out there for people to make informed decisions. Praying to effigies or believing that sacrificing goats etc are becoming less popular. We don't starve if the crops fail (except in places like Ethiopia) and natural disasters are seen scientifically instead of God being seen to be angry with his subjects. I personally like the idea of the improve yourself and meditate religions. Anybody seeking inner spiritual enlightment is unlikely to harm their fellow human beings or be warlike in nature so maybe we should go hippy again and put garlands and gifts of food instead of bombs everywhere and baskets of fruit and biscuits and toys to traumatised children instead of tanks and smiles through heavily guarded faces. Just a thought!!!!

As the internet and satellite television brings information to people who were once dependent upon the church, they are learning the real history of the Bible. They are also finding out that more people have been killed in the name of religion than for any other reason, and that the Biblical God repeatedly commands people to hurt and kill each other. People with morals are refusing to accept all that as 'truth' or 'love', and realizing that they don't need religion to be happy, good, or successful. As a result, the number of Christians is rapidly declining.

Cos religion has caused a lot of harm than good. But all these still points to the bible's prophecy that soon there'll be just one true religion that will come from God. (Revelation 17 : 1 - 5; chapter 14 : 8 - 12

People who live in these country work too hard and don't have time for religion ; they also don't believe in wonders and think that everything can be explained by science

Not at all. Religion is gaining greater interest among intellectual individuals and civilized countries. False believers may leave religion for their worldly reasons, but true believers are concentrating on learning and introducing the divine counsels for a better world.

I think that is a myth. As for Jews, they have always scattered themselves around the globe, probably always will. Christians are everywhere, and yet 'nowhere', without real direction and leadership.
