My husband is Muslim and I am not. He forgives people who attack his religion much more easily than I do, but he was taught patience towards non-believers his entire life. I see it as an attack on him and it makes me very angry. I am following his lead though, and am learning not to let people who criticize Islam upset me. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and I have always respected that, but I have a hard time with people who insist they know all about Islam when they have not even a clue.

Hi there brother!
DO you think its THAT Impossible???
No it is NOT, in our religion whatever Crap the Non-muslims say, if its out of ignorance, then it would be forgiven BUT if they say even after analyzing and understanding the LOGIC behind various Islamic rulings then leave us, even GOD will NOT forgive Arrogant behaviour.
I am in a search of finding people of understanding and you are one among them. The Majority i found was blidnfolded by the media and they hurl baseless comments just to insult Islam.
Kudos to your friendship and as prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him) has taught us to FORGIVE the one who wronged you, we will try to do the same.
ALLAH tells in the Quran, "... And return the Wrong with the Good... Because if you do, you will make your enemy your closest friend.."
But the problem nowadays is dual.
1. Muslims are not Practicing the above teachings.
2. BUT the MOST important role is the NEGATIVE impact of the BUSH administration that is BURNING the WHOLE World by its Blunder policies.
Anyways... Peace Be with you.

Honestly let me tell you I hate it when a whole beautiful religion like Islam is being judged by some bad so called followers. People should judge religion by its core adn not by its followers actions because not all people's actions are guidedd by religion. If the followers of Muhammed abided by His teachings we won't be so weak like we are. Unfortunately we brought our religion so far behind so may God forgive us and grant us the strength to be good examples for the greatest most logic, transparent, moderate religion of all. Of course we have to forgive others because there are bad examples that are set and westeners to a big extent are affected by the media but what we cannot forget or forgive are insults that have no place between respectable people despite of their differences.

No need to ask, Thomas, we do not hold grudges against the Islam bashers or the serious critics. People have the absolute and complete right to express their views about faiths.
Certain comments are downright harsh and horrible and have nothing to do with criticism but as I said, to each his own. I am not responsible for anyone's opinions and opinions would not alter or affect, in any other way, my beliefs about Islam.
Other religions receive their share of ugly words too; it is ugly, but we can ignore it and take comfort in our respective beliefs.
Cheers.

What is probable is that a small faction of Muslims interpret specific scriptures as a kind of "command" ... just as a small faction of Christians interpreted the "go ye therefore" as a good foundation for the Crusades, and the "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" as a reason for the witch hunts. I do not feel a whole faith should be negatively portrayed because the acts of a few get spotlighted by a media who seems to LOVE negativity. I do not condone violence in the name of any deity, or any belief... but I do believe it's happened in nearly every culture (check out the Romans, the Greeks, etc.)

I have already forgiven all the bad stuff that's been happening to Islam... Not many Muslims realise that how they react to certain things have made us look even worse... flag burning.. riots... violence..that is actually not helping people see that we are not a violent religion...
I often try to imagine what the Prophet Muhammad would have done if he was in our position... and I can tell you this... he has endured soooo much more crap than what we now endure.. and He still remained a humble, respectable, loved man that many people, both Muslim and non-Muslim, follow.

Thomas we always forgive and forget as Muslims.
What really hurts us is that we don like anyone to talk about our prophet or any other prophet. I have always said u can ask questions but do not insult the religion.

Of course it is possible for them to forgive. Several friends of mine have; The ability to forgive or not is an independent issue for each person to work on.
