I want to know if anyones dog has had side effects such as inability to use back legs properly, lethargy and rapid breathing from putting Advantage (not advantix) on them for flea treatment. If so pls advise what happened and if vet believed it was the problem or not. Advantage and my vet do not believe that the product is capable of causing those problems although I have spoken to several people who have had the same experience.

Individual sensitivities, while rare, may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. It is probably unlikely that previous Advantage Flea control use is the cause of the seizures but it is probably possible.

It is always hard to figure out what is causing seizures and many times it is impossible to do so. That leaves a lot of room for guessing at causes.

If become more severe, consult a veterinarian immediately.

I have never seen it cause a problem, nor can I find any evidence in any of my literature. As this medication is not absorbed into the bloodstream, or metabolized by any of the organs, it would not be able to have any affect on the neurologic or respiratory systems. Unlike many of the OTC, this medication works upon a different mechanism than the organophospates. According to the Plumb's Vet. Drug Book, several studies have shown that up to 5x the recommended amount can be applied with no adverse side effects seen.

I don't have a dog but my cat suffered terrible seizures after his second Advantage treatments, he lost total control of his hind quarters, the vet didn't think it was anything to worry about,to watch him, but the next treatment within hours the seizures started again-we no longer use advantage

I gave my poodle a pill for fleas and it made her have seizures yet i later positioned the flea medicine the vet gave me to apply that is going between the canine shoulder blades and he or she did high quality on that. My vet says there are particular flea medicine that won't be able to settle for to a pair canine including beagles and Shelties because it may kill them so be secure because of the fact the different have mentioned and take your canine to the vet in case you love him and that i'm helpful you do, just to be on the secure facet. Flea medicine ought to be administered by skill of weight and maximum of the human beings who handle their own pets do no longer consistently try this. i'm hoping all is going properly on your puppy.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.
