what i did was, at meal times i would sit her on her potty to have her food at her own little table. when she wee'd i praised her and cuddled er so she new what she had done was good.
i let her go to bed without a nappy in the nights with a plastic potty training sheet under her so if she wet the bed it wouldnt harm the mattress. she only wet the bed once coz she learned that she didnt like being wet and learned to wake up. i out a ptty in her bedroom for her to wee in the middle of the night.
i told her to always tell me if she thought shewas going to need the toilet so i cud put her on the toilet with her little rim seat. she felt all grown up.
remember to always praise her... dont sanction her for having accidents... i found th best way to make her feel guilty was to put on a sad face when she had an accident.. this made her more eager to please by making sure she used her potty..
good luck xx

Put her potty chair near Mommy's. Every time Mommy goes potty, let your daughter go with her & sit on her potty. She and Mommy can talk and play games-take all the fear out of it. It's a big step for a kid!
Mine was potty trained real quick (I'd say it took three days, max) but I had been taking her to the bathroom with me for a while. I'd situate her potty chair so that she and I were knee to knee facing each other. I taught her that to poop, you have to make funny faces-she loved that.
Also, when Mommy potties, Mommy can say "Bye bye pee pee (or Poopie) when she flushes. Your little girl will look forward to being able to tell hers bye bye, too!
DO NOT USE FOOD AS A REWARD! I see above that some has suggested this. Never do this! It sets the kid up for eating disorders later. (Hey! I got an A on my exams! I deserve a box of Godiva!) before you know it, they associate success with food-you see how that could tun very bad?
She can do this. 21 months is plenty old enough! Don't pressure her-make it fun! The key to training a child this age to do anything-go potty, use manner, whatever-is to make it fun!

I started with my little girl at about 24 months, which doesn't mean that it is too soon for you to start with your own daughter. However, you may want to try a different approach, such as putting her on the potty after she pee pee's and tell her to let you know the next time that she has to go. Some parents told me that they tried just leaving the child on a portable potty about 15 or 30 minutes after they have had something to drink and let them sit until they've had to go, maybe while watching a favorite movie of hers. I've literally put my little one on the potty once about every 30 minutes and let her sit for a couple of minutes, after about a month or so she started telling me when she's had to go. Good luck, sweetie! =)

21 Months? Just because she can speak doesn't mean she's ready for the pottie just yet. But if you really want to, try getting a mini pottie. I don't even know if they make those anymore, but I'm sure they do. Put it in the bathroom. Once she sees Mommy on the pottie then she'll understand what to do. Ask her if she has to go to the bathroom. If she does well then respond with "I have to go to." Eventually she'll be able to do it by herself. I still think that 21 months is to young.

I have 3 kids, and it seemed like the more I pushed the potty training they didn't want to do it. She will eventually want to try on her own. Everyone is different, and most aren't trained till about 3.

Have you considered the possibility that she isn't ready yet. Most kids start potty training at about 3. That is usually the time when they feel the sensation to go. At less than 2yrs they can't really talk to tell you when they have to go. My best advice would be to wait until she is at least 2.5yrs old. I have both boys and a girl and they all started at about 2.5yrs old.
Good Luck!
