I have a 3 year old lhasa apso who came from an abusive home before us and has bit me in the face, calf, and hands because i annoyed him with unwanted petting or food taken away. His bites are not severe, but he is a snappy dog with a scary harmful attitude. He's also bit several of my family members and visitors. Where can i give him away, but NOT a shelter that will kill him? Know of any rescue homes or trainers?

i got him from a friend who basically lied to me about his behavior in order to give him away. im not going to lie to the next owner, but all dogs should get a 2nd chance to life. he has improved through aggression classes. Just b/c lapsa apsos have a temper, should we kill them all? no.

here is a rescue organization in your area that can take your 3 yr. old ihasa apsp:

they are all over the country and have one in s. ca. they will take your dog and take good care of him and also find him a good home. at the same time, they will also train him to behave and make him human friendly as well.

You can look at www.petfinder.ca to find a rescue home near you, but you may want to check your contract with the original site. Most contracts stipulate that if you give the dog away, it must go back to the original site for a small fee.

Have you tried a trainer yet? It sounds like your dog may have agression problems, but it could be possible to eliminate them with time and practice.

Why do you think anyone is going to want your untrained biting dog when there are plenty of nice ones to adopt?

Why did you get a breed like a Lhasa, that are known for snappy temperaments, if you were unable to handle it?
