As most store brand chickens seem to have water pumped into them, the flavour from organic is truer and "gamier" than that of the Buy 2 for £6 range.
However that organic chicken is treated fairly, it seems that ALL the big chains charge over the odds for providing healthier foodstuffs than those that are not dealt with in this way.
So taking your group's efforts on promoting 5 a day (again why make it cheaper now that 30% of the nation is morbidly obese seems bizarre, or am I being cynical) maybe promote cheaper organic foodstuffs.
Also, people really don't mind what shape their organic food is as long as it is reasonably priced, so stop SEEMING to waste over 20 % of farmers produce, just because it SEEMS you want your displays to look like a 17th Century still life by Van Dyck.

One makes a pot of money for the retailer under the guise of being better. The other is ordinary run-of-the-mill (if not the field!) chicken - tastes much the same with a bit of care in the prep and cooking - like using butter and decent stuffings.

Difficult to describe, but very tasty.
Organic free range chicken is definitely better and actually tastes like chicken, meaty and full of natural flavour compared with battery chickens which are watery, tasteless and something akin to soggy cardboard, - bland except for a peculiar chemical taste. You really have to try it to taste the difference (no pun intended)
But that's just my opinion, I like my food to taste like food, not paper that you have to add artificial flavourings or sauces to in order to make it palatable.

By organic, do you mean free-range birds, allowed to eat anything they find in natural surroundings - as against battery chickens, fed chemically enriched diets?
A no-brainer... but in terms of taste, give me a corn fed, happy- to- roam- around chicken any time - and very very fresh.

They have a depper flavour. After seeing how battery hens are raised I will never knowingly eat that sort of chicken again, and I think that supermarkets need to take a stand and no longer supply chicken that is raised in cruel ways.

I have not noticed a difference except the expense. I am unemployed but if I were to eat chicken I would pay a bit extra. I think cage and battery farming are cruel!

I think it just means you have a healthier chicken to eat. The chicken has been fed with natural grain not grain that has been treated or produced with pesticides, antibiotics or hormones, nitrates or nitrites.
